Hope came on little Hooves.
60% of print proceeds will go to @mountainmulepackers
During the amazing outpouring of love and community that followed hurricane Helene, many of you have likely heard the incredible story of @mountainmulepackers and their amazing mule trains that braved the destruction to bring much needed supplies and recourses to many folks in our community that live in hard to reach areas. They played a vital role in not only getting people the recourses they needed, but also instilled hope in so many and showed us what the definition of caring for your neighbor can truly look like.
I created this piece to thank them and they’re wonderful animals for everything they’ve done. As well as to create a symbol to remind us all that no matter how dark the days can be, or how heavy the rain can fall, there will always be those that are willing to devote their entire selves to help those in need. This piece also features a collection of collars to symbolize the beloved Lake Lure Rainbow Bridge pet memorial and all of the four legged friends that got to take one final swim together.
I’m truly honored to have been able to create this piece for such an incredible group of folks.
Please feel free to PM for a Large 11x14 inch print priced at $30
or a Small 8.5x11 inch print priced at $25.
Stickers will also be available for $4.

The Creek Jumper, a trout bound by no waters.
This little guy holds a special place in my heart and is a piece that I would say has become sort of my calling card.
The Creek Jumper is a creature that can truly find where it belongs. At some point in all of our lives we have found ourselves trapped in a place that didn’t feel like home. For this little guy, home is never unattainable. How nice it must be to fly free, never to be trapped in a stream that didn’t flow in the way you needed it to. It is so important that we all find a stream of our own.

“Hope, even when the river rises.” My dear friend @camarrero was able to find one of my Creek Jumper prints at our favorite @marqueeasheville . I find it fitting that this was the piece to have survived. A little fish that can soar above any turbulence, and settle in a stream more calm. These last two weeks have been incredibly difficult, and I have learned many lessons. I love my little mountain home with all of my heart, and the folks and art that make it so special. Hard times don’t last. I will continue my time here, and continue to create art that that means so much more to me even now. We love you Asheville.

🦌✏️ Returning Artist Feature: Grayson Manning
There’s a quiet magic to Grayson Manning’s work that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. Drawing inspiration from western and Appalachian folklore and fairytales, Grayson creates pieces that touch on ethereal beings and deep emotions. His pencil and ink drawings explore and celebrate the varied components of irony, joy, and pain that are an inherent part of the human journey — all rendered with an incredible attention to detail and a deeply personal connection to the natural world. 🌲
His work reflects his love of animals and nature , and whether you’re drawn in by a mythical creature or a hauntingly beautiful landscape, Grayson’s pieces have a way of feeling like they were made just for you. He’s the kind of artist whose work you find yourself thinking about long after you’ve walked away from it.
We are so thrilled to have Grayson’s work on display for our Grand Reopening, May 7–10, at 98 North Lexington Avenue in Downtown Asheville. Come see it for yourself — and follow him on Instagram at @grayson_manning for a peek before you arrive! Visit artgardenavl.com for full weekend details. 🌿🎨

He’s going home!!! I’m so incredibly happy to have my original painting “The night the mountains went dark” going home to my good friends Bessie and Devin! We met years ago here in Black Mountain NC and have been friends ever since. This piece could not belong to a more fitting couple.

I once saw the grandest thing. Procreate on IPad.
Over time, they learned that they could feed on the stars as well. The beasts of the river trade their fins for wings, so they may swim among the clouds.
