The future of Home Church SA is officially OURS. 🙌 🔑 And we’re just getting started. God made a way miraculously to open this door and now we get to partner with Him to walk into the future of what He has planned.
Thank you to everyone who has already given and who will make this next phase possible.
If you are able to give to move this mission forward, please select GROW BEYOND campaign when you give through our website, text to give, or on a tithing envelope at church.
Leadership carries moral responsibility. When harm happens under your authority, the response matters. Naming evil matters. Rejecting it matters. Saying clearly, “This is not who we are,” matters.
What grieves me is not just one offensive post, but what it represents. I am fully aware that others were also depicted as animals. Still, the depiction of Black people as animals is not accidental. It is rooted in a long, ugly history where Black bodies were deliberately dehumanized, mocked, and portrayed as less than human to justify violence, exclusion, and oppression. This imagery has been used before. We know what it means. And we know the harm it causes.
When something like this comes from a place of power and is met with silence, that silence is not neutral.
I need the President of the United States to speak directly to this. Not indirectly. Not eventually. Directly. Clearly. Decisively.
As an American, this pierces me.
As a Black man, it wounds me.
As a human being made in the image of God, it cuts me to the core.
This isn’t about jokes.
It isn’t about politics.
It’s about human dignity.
It’s about moral leadership.
It’s about who we are choosing to be.
And in moments like this, silence speaks far too loudly.

I watched you lead and nurture students with the love care of a mother long before you had your own children.
I was there to see your excitement at being pregnant for the first time. I was there as you walked through grief with Grace.
I was there while you watched your friends and family members have babies while you waited.
I was there to welcome our first child. Our second. I watched you stare down anxiety and become an advocate and a voice for those suffering in silence.
I was there as you navigated the emotions of an unexpected pregnancy. I have watched you enjoy the baby you didn’t know you needed.
With each moment on this beautiful journey I have seen you become stronger, more compassionate, and more like Jesus.
Today I celebrate you. Thank you for carrying and mothering my babies.
I love you! Happy Mother’s Day @lesliemarie.griffin
