POV: your inner child just got front row seats and a mic đâ¨
Growing up, dolls were more than toysâthey were our stories, our secrets, our safe space. The outfits, the personalities, the little worlds we built⌠yeah, that kind of magic stays with you.
So stepping into GIRL DOLLS: The American Musical at FringeArts, presented with The Bearded Ladies Cabaret, felt like opening a piece of my childhood all over againâbut this time, with grown-woman perspective.
GIRL DOLLS: The American Musical is a hilarious, nostalgic, and sharp new musical diving into Americaâs favorite doll franchise, girlhood, identity, and the stories we grew up with. Created and performed by Jackie Soro and Pax Ressler, it blends original songs, comedy, and 90s nostalgia into something thatâs funny, interactive, and just a little too real.
It had me laughing, reflecting, and lowkey questioning everything I thought I knew about those dolls đ
Philly, if you grew up in that eraâthis is your sign.
Tap in, bring your doll (yes, seriously), and come ready to feel everything.
Tag your doll bestie & plan your night đ

Not gonna lie⌠this felt like healing my inner child in real time.
Growing up, dolls were my whole personalityâso stepping into GIRL DOLLS at FringeArts? I was already emotionally invested. But baby⌠I wasnât ready for how funny, chaotic, and lowkey deep it would get. I was laughing one minute and reflecting the nextâlike wait, why am I in my feelings right now??
And real question⌠did yâall know thereâs a whole theater inside Fringe Bar? Because I definitely did NOT. I just stumbled into this little hidden gem and walked out pleasantly surprised. Like⌠dinner, drinks AND a show?? Say less.
If youâre a 80s-90s baby and love a little nostalgia mixed with real talkâthis is your sign to go experience it.

Show: Sengâs Hair Salon
Theatre: Interact Theatre Co.
Show Dates: April 17th to May 10th
Thoughts: This show is about a multigenerational family owned hair salon and the family lore and legends and love that make this place up. Thereâs laughs and cute moments maybe even a jump scare. Thereâs only five of these shows left and you do not want to miss it!
Best paired with: Interact has a great local snack bar & I had to grab some red Mural City wine for this one. I say grab that, & tell âem PFAB sent ya!!

Comedy, horror, familyâŚSengâs Hair Salon has it all. đ
We had a chat with actors Karen and Daniel from Sengâs Hair Salon, presented by Interact Theatre Company, to talk about the show rooted in stories inspired by Philadelphiaâs Asian community. Between a creative who found her voice through theater via dance classes, and a lacrosse player who stumbled into theater, these two brought so much heart to our conversation.
Sengâs Hair Salon at The Drake, Presidium Theater closes this Sunday, May 10th, which also happens to be Motherâs Day. đ¸
Tickets at the Interact Theatre website. đď¸
New episode out now; link in bio, you know where to find it!
