Alien is a fluorescent green glass on a polished aluminum body, producing an extraterrestrial Vibe. The sculptural table lamp is composed of mouth-blown UV-reactive glass whose specifically conceptualized dynamic light creates its striking light experience.
Formed 15 million years ago
Alien transforms a 15-million-year-old event into a contemporary product experience. The lamp’s sculptural glass is based of high-resolution 3D scans of an actual moldavite tektite, remnants of a meteorite impact in what is now southern Germany. This relic of extraterrestrial energy forms the core of Alien – a vitreous light body both eerily organic and precisely crafted.
About the Artist
Yngve Holen, born 1982, is a Norwegian-German sculptor known for his work exploring the material intersections of humans, objects, technology, and consumer culture. Holen makes sculptures that dissect the systems and anxieties that permeates our social reality. Holen is represented by Galerie Neu in Berlin and Modern Art in London. He lives and works is Oslo and Berlin.

The making of Alien
Alien transforms a 15-million-year-old event into a contemporary product experience. The lamp’s sculptural glass is based on high-resolution 3D scans of an actual moldavite tektite, remnants of a meteorite impact in what is now southern Germany.
To recreate this extraordinary geometry, a highly complex four-part steel mold was custom-engineered. The intricate undercuts and fluid organic structure can only be realized by exceptionally skilled glass artisans.
Each Alien glass is handcrafted in a small Czech glass atelier, where three glassblowers work in perfect synchronization to shape every piece.
Subtly unique in form and texture, every Alien carries the character of true craftsmanship.
