January has been long. Covering and uncovering rows. Stacking firewood. Harvesting a few blooms. Then rogue wind gusts destroying the greenhouse plastic. But Spring feels closer than ever, and these delicate blooms make it all worth it

Hello flower friends! I wanted to introduce myself and share the goings-on at Grassdale. My name is Chandler, my husband Grant and I along with our twins Callan and Ryan are so excited to be the new stewards of Petals, ink at Grassdale Farm! We have been seeding, planting, and prepping for a beautiful Spring season. Get ready for loads of ranunculus, anemones, Iceland poppies, and the wildflowers of Spring! We can’t wait to grow beautiful flowers for our Austin friends

Hey Flower Lovers! Gretchen here. I know it’s been a small eternity since my last post. Life took some major turns for the whole Petals crew in June and we are just coming up for air! I’ve been running this ship since 2009 and it has hands down been the most fulfilling, ambitious and difficult time of my life! From humble beginnings, to hundreds of fabulous wedding clients and hundreds of thousands of stems grown @grassdaletx —I am full to the brim with beauty and pride and gratitude for all that made this dream of mine possible—from friends and family, to clients, vendors, local businesses, and far-off internet admirers. None of this would have been possible without you! Above all else, the incredible team of women I’ve been lucky enough to have as a support team have kept this flower wheel turning throughout the years. And So it is with great pride and excitement for what comes next that I pass the Petals torch to my long-time employee @chandlerjonas Chandler has been a Petals gal for five years, and knows the ins and outs of the farm like no other, as well as having the creativity and finesse to create some of our most beautiful designs! She will undoubtedly continue the incredible service and floral products y’all know and love, while infusing her own asthetic into the mix. Chandler and her (very handy) husband Grant moved into the farmhouse in June and have already made long-overdue repairs, expanded next season’s flower variety line up, and improved some of our systems. But their greatest labor of love these past several months hasn’t been growing flowers, but TWINS! Callan and Ryan, now 5 months, are the most adorable pair of babies you will ever meet 😭 As I head out on my own next chapter, it brings me great peace to know the little farmhouse on the prairie is filled with so much love, tiny squeaks & smiles, and two parents with the muscle and moxie to make what I started so long ago a brand new dream of their own.

Behold: Costa Apricot. First year growing it (I know, I know, always behind on the trends!!) She’s a keeper. PS, please send gentle storm thoughts our way for tonight ❤️

Spring is Springing on the farm! We pulled out ranunculus last week and field crops are starting to pop— we’re cutting delphinium, larkspur, campanula, statice, queen Anne’s lace, several varieties of snapdragons, stock, sweet peas, dianthus, and the first of the godetia, clarkia and loads & loads of bluebonnets! ❤️
