How to sculpt a 40’ snake from air duct tube, rigid casting foam, wire mesh, and epoxy! We created this Snake for Choctaw Casino’s Lunar New Year events, in one month with help from our friend @kassiepanda . Eric came up with the armature plan from air duct tubing positioned and then cast into with 2 part rigid casting foam to fill. Then we applied a layer of aluminum mesh over the entire surface and laminated it with durable epoxy. The Snake’s head was made from a sheet of insulation foam, cut, stacked, glued, then carved into shape. The pieces are made on top their shipping platforms and seams are created to make the piece modular and mobile to move to different event locations. Though it may look heavy the entire snake weighs about 300 lb, and can be easily moved by our team. @modestmuseum partnered with us on this one and created the stage for the finished piece. Part 2 coming soon 🙂

“The Greeter” immersive installation we made for Meow Wolf Grapevine. An original vision from team Grasham, designed, fabricated, and installed for The Real Unreal opening July 2023. Featuring Gurgich the Greeter, a giant cuddly alien from somewhen in the multiverse! We combined digital and traditional fabrication methods in collaboration with Meow Wolf. It was awesome to work on Netflix House! Here’s pictures of some of the work we did: we helped install these large props and flats in the atrium and restaurant (made by F&D Scene Changes in Calgary), plus some painting, and vinyl finish work. Morgan also assisted with aging painting in the Stranger Things: Escape the Dark experience. Eric assisted F&D with electrical work on the props in the atrium. It was cool to see it being built behind the scenes, and we recommend going to check it out. I’ll put together more of a Reel soon 😋 @netflix @netflixhouse @fdscenechanges

We’re deinstalling and repairing the giant hornet, swarm of bees, jewel wasp, and her tasty cockroach snack at Bug Lab at Perot Museum! Over time and travel, legs pop off and need careful reattaching! 😳🪲 We enjoy doing conservator work for the Perot and for Te Papa Tongarewa National Museum of New Zealand. These amazing props were originally made by Weta Workshop, the same studio that worked on Lord of the Rings. @perotmuseum @te_papa @wetaworkshop
