Our latest Choir Fam Podcast episode features returning guests Jocelyn Hagen and Timothy Takach, both of whom are composers and entrepreneurs in publishing. They discuss how the choral landscape has changed in the years since they founded Graphite Publishing and how their compositional voices have adapted to societal changes. They also talk about their latest collaborative choral/orchestral work, Rose Ever Blooming, and how they’ve merged familiar melodies with new poetry for an innovative work that can still provide nostalgia. Take a listen wherever you get your podcasts! “There’s still so much we can say through choral music, and a good portion of the music that gets put on the concert stage revolves around similar themes that are timeless, that humans are always wrestling with. At the same time, life moves on, and I think choral music in the last couple years has been a really important response to where we are as a society. An artist’s impetus is to respond to events, feelings, and all those sorts of things that get our heart racing.” - Timothy Takach #choirfam #podcast #choir #choral #chorus

It’s easy to say “of course it’ll last.” It’s another thing to build something that actually does. 20 years of Graphite didn’t happen by accident. Hear how it all unfolded in the full conversation now on YouTube: 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭: 𝟐𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞!

Thank you, Joseph, for the incredible review on our newest edition of 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦 Magazine! "I read it cover to cover and had the strangest and most unanticipated experience of feeling more connected, somehow, not just to each of you but also to other Graphite composers I know -- despite not having seen many of you in a relatively long time. It was kind of like a gust of wind in my sails. Maybe it speaks to how lonesome it sometimes feels to live the life of a composer, maybe it speaks to the power of paper and ink over the evanescence of social/digital media, but more likely it's also that the magazine was so thoughtfully and tastefully written, laid out, and edited. Thank you for everything -- the interview, the rep lists and features, but also the crossword, which I happily completed in an armchair with one of our cats resting like a sphinx on the armrest beside me.” - Joseph Gregorio, composer / conductor Sign up for your own copy now (link in bio)!
