After three days of productive conversations with producers, industry leaders and the Grain SA team at #NAMPO2026, Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen heads back today.
Next on the programme: rural infrastructure, a major issue for producers, affecting the cost, time and competitiveness of getting grain to market and in turn putting local economic growth and ultimately food security at risk.
At 12:00, Grain SA Chairperson Richard Krige joins Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, and Head of Infrastructure SA, Ms Mameetse Masemola, to discuss partnerships for rural infrastructure, food security and local economic growth.
As Day 2 of @nampoharvestday comes to a close, one thing remains clear, the conversations taking place here matter long after the exhibition grounds quiet down.
Today’s @nationconverse sessions placed key agricultural issues firmly in the spotlight, including the impact of Foot-and-Mouth Disease, water security and the future role of biofuels in South Africa.
Alongside the discussions, NAMPO Park continued to showcase the innovation, resilience and collaboration driving the agricultural sector forward, from producers and agribusinesses to policymakers, researchers and industry partners.
