@mayorbmscott proposal for new unofficial Baltimore flag! flags are always full of symbolism so I tried to cram as much as possible in this one. Some additional symbolism can be read as follows; The colors are explained in the second slide but the use of the shooting star with rainbow pattern trail is a reference to the “the more you know” image and this is to symbolize how much Baltimore values education. The stars’ red and yellow could be seen as the goal to adopt the effective aspects of socialism (healthcare, social services, mutual aid). The red, black and green are also able to reference pan Africanism and liberation movements. The trail being white and black is to symbolize racial unity aswell as freedom from incarceration. And the use of the stars as the background/reference to our teams, is in order to highlight our nightlife. Many joke/state that you can’t do nightlife in Baltimore because of crime, but I find that take ignorant because we have such a booming and based food scene with amazing restaurants and bars, for all people and occasions. And many of our most popular restaurants are in very safe areas. And with our relatively small population (compared to other historic cities), community in this city is built more efficiently, which helps reduce crime. Last bit of symbolism is in the shape of the flag itself, the flag from a distance can look either like an abstract ravens logo, a fish or a psychedelic crab claw. All this being said, update for my followers: sorry I been lacking on posting, will be posting a lot more of my recent art soon and just made this flag last night and felt I needed to post it. And to the ppl who read this whole thing, thank you so much for your interest and good on you for maintaining your attention span on a media designed to destroy it, like Instagram.

Finally did the finishing touches on this Escher inspired piece!

Change via peaceful protest is a neoliberal lie made to prevent actual change from occurring. If civil rights protestors didn’t resist and endure police violence after their voices fell upon deaf ears time after time, we might still live in a segregated country. The violence is started by the police when they break up protests in order to “keep the roads open” or “maintain order” and when the protestors keep protesting regardless, they are assaulted and painted as violent or bloodthirsty when they are only defending themselves and standing up for what they know to be just. This is disgusting projection, blaming the victims of an oppressive structure instead of the ones perpetrating real violence with no accountability (due to the states monopoly on violence). The need for change in this country approaches a “do or die” situation more and more every day and I just hope we can get real change before it gets to that point. But with how the system is set up I can’t see that realistically happening.

Graduated!! Tysm to everyone that came through to the artwalk exhibit and the graduation!!! it was so much fun! And thank you to everyone who supported me through these last four years! Very grateful for what I’ve learned while being at mica and excited to see what lies ahead!
