The wedding was everything. Like a surreal fever dream in the best possible way. I couldn’t have asked for anything more and I’m absolutely thrilled that @novakyle91 and I were able to celebrate our love with so many of our friends and family while throwing one of the most incredible parties I have ever been to. There’s so much more I want to say but for now, here are 10 of the many highlights of the evening: -The exquisite and hilarious words of @nikded while officiating—he is the “olive oil sauce” to our “noodle pasta” and I/we are so lucky to have him as a colleague/sort-of-boss/friend/drinking buddy -The “contract negotiations” in Kyle’s vows (I’ll be coming for those cuddles!) and the five dogs we may or may not have in our golden years -When Herbie (the camel) tried to get some smooches from Kyle (apparently he likes facial hair as much as I do!) -The joy that @gracewashko and her magnificent face-painting brought to everyone but especially the kids -The look of surprise and joy on my dad’s face after he got dunked (he was indeed a man of his word, and I respect him for that) -All of my friends insisting that they were at the best table for dinner (and the burgeoning friend crushes in general) -The wedding party toasts and speeches, finely weaving together OkCupid dates, movie theater mishaps, and more references to poop than I would have anticipated -Special shoutout to @_erickatz_ for his Man of Honor speech—every memory you brought up felt like it was yesterday (I remember the fight about the Pokemon cards!) and I’m so lucky to have you in my life (also you succeeded in making my dad tear up in your beautiful tribute to my mom) -Doing the father-daughter dance to “I’m Just Ken” and the mid-song shift from the acoustic version to the DJ when everyone flooded the dance floor (and, of course, when the DJ played “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah”) -Contemplating life with dear friends and family by the fire pit while taking shots of tequila and roasting marshmallows I love you, Kyle. Can’t wait to see where our story takes us next!

How fitting to loose one of the greatest champions of justice on the eve of the Jewish new year. She stood between the lines of gender, of justice and equality. And died between the lines of a fading year and the light of a new one. I could wax philosophic about her importance to me, but this medium isn’t conducive to such essays. Instead I will speak with my image and say only this: “To help repair tears in her society, to make things a little better through the use of whatever ability she has” - Ruth Bader Ginsburg These are the words that have echoed in my head as the new year dawned... and so I choose to use mine.
