Introducing Merlin 🪄 Merbaby, Merl ❤️🩹 he casts spells with his huge paws, wakes us up by crawling under the covers and purring, and not only has Hitchy spots on his belly, but also loves having his paws held 🥹. Hitchy was 9 years 9 months and his last day with us physically was on the 9th. 999 numerology means the completion of a major lifecycle signaling the ending of a chapter. Our Hitchy chapter was the greatest. He always left us with bits of his magic. When he closed his eyes for the last time, it was in our home, and Ollie was laying in the room with us.
We had 3 1/2 weeks to devote to making him as comfortable as possible, to give him all the lovings and say all the things. But if you know us, you know we have taken every opportunity to put our faces in his belly, to pick him up for a cuddle. We feel like we were able to give him as much time and love as possible in these short 9 years, and in return he completely changed our lives. He taught us so many things, the most important of which was how much love our hearts could hold. Hitchy was the life of any party, stretched out on his back in the middle of everyone to show off his perfectly spotted belly; he always knew where to find the best light, he loved head kisses and face scratches and i couldn’t even count the number of times he fell asleep while I was holding his paw. He was the recipient of more nicknames and jingles than I can count: Hitchykins, Kins, Kritchy, the Kringle, Smoosh, Ringus Kringus, Kringulus Mingulus, Hitchy Crinkles, Hitchy Bitchy Spider, Hitchy Hitchy Cocoa Puff, Hitchy No-Bones, Hitchipotomas, Hitchy Rabbit, Coy Boy.
I could write about him forever. He had so much personality, and if you have ever been to our house, you got to see that first hand. He never hid from us, even up until the end, and for that I am grateful. Our hearts ache for our sweet Hitchy, and we know this is the deal. But we have found comfort in the kind people who have helped him and have helped us.
