Follow me around for a day, because this is what it actually looks like…. sometimes. 🤩 Most of the days you’ll find me behind the desk buried in admin. But every now and then we get a full day of creativity out on the town, and those are the days that remind me why I love this job. We finally got the final shots of a special project with @seaboardliving . The boy’s room headboard fabric and the butler’s pantry shade arrived and sometimes good things are worth the wait! From there, a stop at the new design center at the Navy Yard to finalize rug selections with @pattersonflynn1943 , and a trip around the @schumacher1889 showroom. We found the most perfect mohair throw AND polished off our trim selections for our Texas project pillows, landing on the most gorgeous red velvet. A color we don’t usually get to play with, and this shade of orange-red is the icing on the cake. My client and I also bonded over a shared childhood memory of mohair. Let’s just say neither of us loved it then. But this Schumacher line? Fluffy, cozy, and completely converted us. You either love mohair or you don’t, and we’re now firmly in the love camp. A quick stop into @urbanelectricco for sconce inspiration for a really fun project. Loved everything, which is always the problem. Over to the new @fergusonhomeofficial showroom on King Street. Andrew helped us find exactly what we needed and pulled it together on the fly. Such a great resource. Last stop, our favorite embroidery workroom, where we signed off on the final thread colors for a monogram design inspired by our client’s daughter’s bedroom fabric. This bedding has been a real labor of love and we cannot wait to see it in that sweet room. We’ve been lucky to have some fabulous interns over the years, and some that were a bit of a drag. 😄 This summer we are so excited to welcome back a wonderful design student who helped us over the holiday break. In her honor, tips for being the most fabulous intern ever! ⭐️ Be excited to just be there. Sit, listen, observe. You can learn more from listening in on a phone call that has nothing to do with you than from any textbook. ⭐️ Be a doer. The trash always needs to be taken out. Don’t wait for a list, look around and find the problem to solve. ⭐️ Know how to pronounce the business name, spell your boss’s name, and know the address. It sounds obvious but unfortunately it isn’t. ⭐️ Pick up the phone. Waiting all day for an email answer vs. a two minute call, the call wins every time. It was our turn to host supper club this month and a garden theme felt inevitable. 🌿 Which meant @scalamandre ’s Calabasas County — leaping frogs, an archival cult favorite — was always going to be part of it. Grace has had her eye on this fabric for years and a dinner party under a scalloped tent on Johns Island, surrounded by roses, foxgloves, and a Lowcountry marsh at golden hour, was finally the perfect occasion. The table skirted to the ground. Seat cushions. Chair pillows. Little frog and garden details - down to the potted cupcakes with little shovel spoons. “Does this look like enough lettuce for twelve?” - she asked as she frantically pinched off leaves while a photographer snapped her photo because she loves to overdo things no one asks her to do like adding a photoshoot on top of actually hosting supper club and having to actually feed real people .

Years into working with this client and we still had unfinished business. We started in her family room and slowly made our way through the house — but the sitting room had been waiting. It’s the first thing you see when you walk in the front door and it was falling completely flat. Her vision? A ladies lounge. Somewhere to cocktail and play mahjong with friends. A room with a personality to match. The challenges were real — low ceilings and almost no natural light. So we started with sisal wallpaper, which instantly warmed and richened the space in a way paint never could. Then came the chinoiserie panels we found and built the whole room around. Green velvet sofas with fretwork tr trim on the arms. And a chic little ottoman for her to kick up her heels after a day in the office.
