Khady and Simonâs story:
Some lives are measured in years; Simon Fentonâs was measured in adventures. A biologist, writer, photographer, and fearless traveller. He met Khady in Abene, Senegal where they fell in love, started a family, and built the Little Baobab, an eco sustainable guesthouse. They created a life full of purpose and discovery, centred around family. His stories, captured in Squirting Milk at Chameleons and Chasing Hornbills, continue to inspire others to live boldly and embrace the unknown. Simon didnât just travel through the world, he truly lived in it.
Tragically, Simon passed away in a car accident in 2017, leaving behind Khady, their two children, and the eco-guesthouse they had built together. Khady bravely carried on the project, working tirelessly to make ends meet. However, she struggled with client outreach, something Simon had managed, and, over the years, the strain took its toll, causing the property to gradually deteriorate.
Throughout this time, OWA and many others continued to return and support Khady as much as possible, while she remained a remarkable host, creating unforgettable experiences for every guest who visited.
In 2026, Louise discovered Little Baobab, this video tells her incredible story of how she is helping the community in little Baobab.
