A biologist, writer, photographer, and fearless traveller. He met Khady in Abene, Senegal where they fell in love, started a family, and built the Little Baobab, an eco sustainable guesthouse. They created a life full of purpose and discovery, centred around family. His stories, captured in Squirting Milk at Chameleons and Chasing Hornbills, continue to inspire others to live boldly and embrace the unknown. Simon didn’t just travel through the world, he truly lived in it. Tragically, Simon passed away in a car accident in 2017, leaving behind Khady, their two children, and the eco-guesthouse they had built together. Khady bravely carried on the project, working tirelessly to make ends meet. However, she struggled with client outreach, something Simon had managed, and, over the years, the strain took its toll, causing the property to gradually deteriorate. Throughout this time, OWA and many others continued to return and support Khady as much as possible, while she remained a remarkable host, creating unforgettable experiences for every guest who visited. This was shot at the Centre Acrobatique Keita Fodeba in Conakry, Guinea. It’s a training space that uses acrobatics and movement to support young people, many of whom come from difficult backgrounds or have spent time on the streets. The focus isn’t just performance. It’s structure, consistency, and giving kids a place to train, learn, and build something over time. Sessions like this create routine, develop physical skills, and open up pathways into performance, touring, or coaching. There’s a lot of talent here. What stands out is how much can be done with the right environment and support system. Projects like this don’t always get much visibility, but they play a real role in changing trajectories.
