it’s getting chilly! 🌧️ lucky i have been hard at work making more wool hoods 😈 i was making these when i was at @nationalfolkfestival last weekend so they should be imbued with the essence of folky tunes 🤔 🎶

two versions of the shnood pattern by @edsfart 🌱
- the first one i got a bit crazy with it and decided to integrate a bobble stitch throughout to add some texture! as i worked i realised it reminded me of the gronckle from how to train you dragon (last slide), so i ended up putting an armoured ball as the tail to better match the dragon. sometimes the inspiration for a design comes whilst working on a project rather than beforehand 🤷♀️
- ive been meaning to incorporate more stitches and textures in my work and while i love the bobble stitch it kinda doubled the construction time of the hat lol (1 bobble = 5ish double crochets)
- the second (green) hat was actually the first shnood i made. i just kept this design simple to better explore the pattern’s gauge and customisation options. both hoods ended up having a forest-y kinda theme, perfect for the cooling weather

- the striking contrast between the red and black called for a more intense theme, hence the dragon

the pattern for the berries was a free pattern by @stellasyarnuniverse ! thanks for the pattern stella, these berries are the perfect size ⭐️
made from fibers new and old, high wool content 🧶
another medieval style pointed bonnet, embellished with a thistle in bloom 🌱
the thistle design is from antiquepatternlibrary.org, and i chose to put it on a bonnet because i had recently found these colours of wool at the op shop (thank u op shop gods 🙏) and they were calling to be made into a plant design 🍃
also i realise that i accidentally crocheted scotland’s national plant and animal on these bonnets in immediate succession ??! a very scottish coincidence….. 🤔🏴

1. jester hood made from eyelash yarn 👁️ normally i turn this yarn type into a worm-on-a-string scarf but this one told me it wanted to be a clown. love the weird drape that the ears have. last pic is a cheeky flick from when i wore it to a rave 🤫 also wearing my epic denim top by @sluttyrenaissance 😛😛 wear handmade stuff to the function right NOW!!!!
2 & 3. more devil horns, pattern by the amazing @franmakestuff . seriously one of my fav hats to make ever. both have a mixed fiber type, the blue one has a weird yarn being 50% wool and 50% soybean???? the power of op shop yarn….
4. black fuzzy bunny ears hood 🐰 can’t go wrong with a classic crochet bunny look

i recently made these lil gumnut beanies 🌱
these were made out of random chunky yarns that i got in a mixed yarn bag from an op shop. part of the fun of using secondhand materials is that sometimes you end up with yarn that you wouldn’t normally choose on purpose, and it’s a fun challenge to try and figure out how to piece them into something that makes sense. these yarns are mixed fiber type but mostly high content wool (the pink yarn was 100% wool ?!!). the gumnut hats ended up looking like may gibbs’ gumnut babies (last couple slides).
these will be for sale! i have a bunch of stuff ive made recently that i haven’t posted here yet ;) get keen cuz there’s more to come …….
another pointed bonnet, this time with a unicorn, made with a lovely subtle pastel wool 🤍
- having lots of fun with these pointed bonnets. this design was a freebie from antiquepatternlibrary.org, but i think im gonna have to start making my own designs for these soon 😈
- yarn is “fairy floss” and “grey brown recycled” pure wool from @bendigowoollenmills 🧶
- i chose this unicorn pattern, not in a horse girl way, but in more of a scotland forever way 🏴 (i have never been to scotland)

- beanie with the cat cross stitch pattern inspired by some ancient cat embroidery from peru. base beanie pattern is from @ty_bailie 😼
epic purple dragon hood, make with 100% wool 🤯🐉🗡️
this is the second rendition of adding tapestry patterns to headwear. i’m getting through more of my special yarn! the white wool is from an op shop, the blue is spun by @wool2yarn , the purple is handspun and dyed from @sheepishdesignsnz (see last pic 🐑).
the hood came out a little bigger than expected but it’s ok cuz the hood has more of an overhang which makes it mysterious 🧐 pics show how the hood can be worn on the head, but also pushed back like the hood on a hoodie. i love the changes in purple tones on the dragon, i think he is very regal 🫅
small tapestry of shmeegus from the zlorgoverse 🍏
made for my lovely partner as a christmas present for last year <3
shmeegus’ lore is that he was created by this tiktok account called @/ zlorgoverse, where they made him do silly videos and songs with this nice old-internet art style. however shmeegus rose to fame perhaps too quickly because after a couple months zlorgoverse deleted their whole account 💔 this tapestry is a tribute to shmeegus, rip shmeegus we miss u every day
