PERMANENT SMOKO was a ten-day, site-responsive residency brimming with shared meals, smokos, field trips and studio time.
Working with second-hand and borrowed materials, this collaborative installation was made with the Slag community in response to Broken Hill, its histories, culture, resources, labour, distances and edges.
Endless thanks to Asma, Hester and Verity of Slag Heap Projects and the Slag community for holding us, Broken Hill Art Exchange for housing us, the Tip Shop for loaning us materials, and to Cynthia Schwertsik and Taya Mikah Solomon for sharing in this special time.
This project was made possible through Regional Arts NSW through the Regional Arts Fund, an Australian Government initiative supporting the arts in regional, remote and very remote Australia. #regionalartsnsw #regionalartsaustralia
