“Here’s to the ones who dream, foolish as they may seem. Here’s to the hearts that ache. Here’s to the mess we make.”
Last Thursday I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Media Studies with a minor in Theatre. I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything different these past four years or for the rest of my life.
Thank you to all my mentors, mentees, professors, peers, anyone and everyone I’ve met, even if we’ve only known each other this past semester. Thank you to everyone who taught me how to live life a little less scared or at least to do it afraid. I’ve lived a lot of lives these past four years and I don’t regret the things I’ve done or the people I’ve met, only the things I didn’t do.
My college years don’t look like the normal four years you might see in the movies or on social media. I’ve spent too much time comparing myself to those around me, but I’ve learned how to do things alone, had the pleasure of going to two completely different schools, served on two executive boards, studied abroad, and met people I’ll remember all my life. Even with the stereotypical college experiences I didn’t have, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I was always where I needed to be when I needed to be there.
Thank you everyone from Tuscaloosa to Atlanta and everyone in between. Go ‘Thers and Roll Tide 🐾💙🐘❤️
