Thursday evening is upon us once again and this week we’re keeping it short and sweet with local favorite Goyle. Goyle is a Philadelphia-based producer, DJ, and co-founder of the techno imprint S Label, which releases a broad range of spatial techno, minimal, dub focused audio. The label’s most recent release, “Extension” was a collaboration between Goyle and Hpin, which has been on heavy rotation for us since its release last November. Goyle is a hard-working producer, music-obsessed freakazoid, ripping skateboarder, and above all else, a beloved member of our community. We are so excited to hear what he brings for his 3-hour-long set, presented in the standard psychedelic lounge Hi-Fi. $5-10 sliding scale; pay what you can. No one turned away for lack of funds. Donations help a lot and we would appreciate the help if you have the means to do so. Thee one and only @percyphl staff is on hand to help with your beverage needs. Lurking around the corner and slowly pulsating toward the surface through a low pass filter, the second edition of Downbeat Detection at Bossa Nova Civic Club takes place Sunday December 14th. The crew will also play a special b2b set streaming live on The Lot Radio on Saturday December 13th from 4 to 6 pm. DBD 02 delves further into the realm of minimal, dub, and bleep with a heavyweight crew of selectors. Headlined by @__k_wata and @eden.aurelius expect deep and cut-y excursions across the echo sphere. Philly’s @kristian_cho aka nail salon (Bounce House and Beauty Parlor) supports with your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and host @spiraleddie , going gritty and resonant with angular, groovy finesse. From 7 to 10 pm, we have a special Happy Hour treat courtesy of S Label braintrust @46pin and @goyle____ , fresh off the release of a deep and groovy split EP. Expect glowing hypnotic rhythms and modular descended madness to kick things off correct. Our beautiful promotional materials come courtesy of @_dirkdegram_ An edition of 40 double sided fold out liporello posters will be printed to commemorate the event and will be available for purchase at the show. We are going pre @honchopgh chill out mode with three esteemed visiting scholars of the queer electronic arts, plus debuting an all-new ambient/experimental live set by Philly electronic masterminds @goyle____ and @scim.ry Goyle + Scim Jake Muir @muirjake transports deep into the netherworlds of gay psychedelia with his multi-deck soundscapes merging contemporary ambient and avant-garde musical lineages. Ben Bondy @ben_bondy is one of the chief minds behind the new ambient-pop sound that has inspired the Spindrift universe, blending lush, heady yet tender ambient soundscapes with SoundCloud / singer songwriter inspired pop sensibilities, lyricism and humor. Kiernan Laveaux @kiernanlaveaux is one of America’s finest DJs, known for a her freaky, dubbed out and psychedelic journeys through wide ranging multi genre legacies of electronic music history as much as for her completely singular approach to CDJ and mixer experimentation. She takes things chiller style with some slow dark and sexy beats for the pottery gym.
