Unheard-of Ensemble returns to âPower Up!â this spring as it presents a new twist on its successful Cultural Ecologies music series, joined by Disco Cactus, a video game jazz-funk group. Fans of Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Hollow Knight will soon be able to listen to some of their favorite video game music from canoes at night on the Gowanus Canal.
Chamber musicians will take to the superfund site to âmix chords with controller cordsâ from floating rafts. Seating on shore will be available as well. New video game arrangements will be premiered alongside new commissions from Annika Socolofsky and Ben Wallace.

We finished up the resurface of our dock Blue Onion just in time for the kick off of both the on the water season and the first Cultural Ecologies series show on May 23rd (rsvp on Eventbrite)! Sunset paddles are one of our favorite ways to share our local stretch of Brooklynâs waterfront. Thereâs something about that golden-hour lightâthe way the water reflects the sky, the city softens, and everything slows downâthat helps people see it all in a new way.
On May 14th, come experience it for yourself. Weâll launch from 19th Street and head out for a relaxed evening paddle. Open to all levels, whether youâre brand new or have been out with us before.
