Head of beauty for @solomiiahrynkiv runway show
This collection is about being honest with yourself, it is about how a human being subconsciously shapes what they manifest into the outside world. The mask is a conceptual element. It is a shield that hides emotions so masterfully that with time it grows into the skin. And clothes either try to conceal one’s true self or, treacherously, reveal it.
Among all the masks the beauty department chose the Moretta mask as a reference. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Venetian women held this velvet mask in place by biting down on a small button located on the inside. By the standards of the time, the anonymisation of a woman who hides her face behind a faceless mask - unable to speak, was considered something sensual and mysterious, leaving room for fantasy. They could communicate only through gestures and clothing. For us, this mask became a metaphor for an attempt to mimic an ideal version of yourself – the one we are expected to be. There are three versions: circle, demo-emotion, and emotion.
Circle: she spent so much time trying to “be” that now she does not even know who she is without the mask. Dehumanised, she has to make up a story about who she is today.
Demo-emotion: caricature, plain, it is like there is an unidentified object on her face. It shines through when the model loses control over herself and is unable to keep meeting expectations.
Emotion: hides behind the mask. Not always the one you want to see, possibly unexpected. But it is honest, it can be neither right nor wrong. It helps understand who we are and how we have to live with it.
And even then, what you can see is only the creation of our minds. We will never be able to fully understand what experiences and feelings an individual is carrying. Maybe in this moment she is thinking about the eyebrows she needs to have back. And what meal she should have next. Thanks you for translating the description @spacedump_
Head of Beauty Dep. for @solomiiahrynkiv@ukrainianfashionweek_official SS26. The concept of the show «Gauze» — a fabric that remembers touches and a form that becomes an expression. Through the beauty department we told a memory of the time of “life on the edge” — an otherwise imperfect world in which all elements of decoration are secondary, instead the self of each individual being, its values, actions — come to the fore. A being that left its unique mark without anything superfluous on the fabric. Designer @ssollona Stylist @sonya_gorobets_ Coordination @nst.spokiy Photo @yesvladik@wayne.vsl
