I’m so grateful that most of the work I make gets to be with you in your home, in your intimate spaces, and you feel connected with something i created. Thank you for that trust and support ✨
I did not anticipate a sketch that started with my nitro snowboard would turn into more than a dozen paintings.
In my mind they are each their own. I write notes to myself, tear them to pieces, paste them together, paint over them and come back to self and full circle with the comfort of the finished piece. It’s not perfect, it has some rough edges, but the message of holding magic for myself and others looks back at us.
When I get home I’d love to make some smaller versions of this. Are you into it?

TAYLAR’S INSTAGRAM HANDLE, @GOTHSLOTH , was the kind of name I first heard in passing-like a band everyone assumes you’re already into-dropped in conversations about cool artists collaborating with snowboarding. It wasn’t until much later, while researching her work for this interview, that I realized one of Taylar’s large-scale paintings—a piece I’d often found myself staring at, transfixed —had been hanging on Jill Perkins’ wall the entire time. Its vivid orange backdrop and raw, expressive lines that hum with tension and intimacy had intrigued me before I even knew the name behind it.
