We headed to Melbourne last week for the Interior Fitout Association Awards and came back with something pretty special. Best Retail Interior Fitout in Australia (under $250,000) @interiorfitoutassociation Still letting that sink in. This one means a lot, not just for the recognition, but for what it represents: collaboration, craftsmanship, and trust. A huge thank you to our clients, our design partners, and the Gorilla Construction team who pour heart and skill into every detail. We’re humbled, proud, and motivated more than ever to keep pushing what’s possible. Huge shoutout for the following @frankiiclothing @collectiv_us @lajosjohnvarga @kccarpentryandbuilding @awardpaintingco @metriccabinets @nathantreby @melvilleceilings @genaro #GorillaConstruction #InteriorFitoutAwards #DesignandBuild #PerthConstruction #GorillaBuilt

The most rewarding part of what we do? Moments like this and the great people you meet along the way. A handwritten card arrived today a reminder of why we show up every day and give it our all. Seeing a vision come to life and knowing our work truly made a difference… there’s no better feeling. Proud of the team, proud of the journey. #gorillabuilt #gratitude #gorillaconstruction #perthbuilder #qualitycraftsmanship #builtwithcare #clientsatisfaction

On Monday night at the panel talk we celebrated the amazing build of our new Artist-in-Residence and Foyer. We are now proud to share some of the first images of the space. The Artist-in-Residency and Foyer Project, is a collaboration between Future Materials and Vessel. Located on the ground floor of Naval Store, it is constructed from beautiful, repurposed old growth jarrah and karri donated by the Fremantle Port, as well as upcycled packaging materials. By reimagining the foyer as both an entrance and a flexible artist residency and community space, we are setting the stage for a bold and statement-making design that reflects our commitment to sustainability, stakeholder engagement, and innovative art practices. As part of our commitment to co-design we invited architecture students of Notre Dame, several artists and a team of architects in the start-up phase of the project. Their role was to define the need and scope for the project, as well as challenging any preconceived notions and ideas that our team had. The learnings from these sessions formed a strong foundation for Future Materials and Vessel to develop the design of the space. Our goal was to create an agile space, that is designed for disassembly within the Naval Store that supports a diverse range of artistic residencies. Local furniture design and production studio Manner were commissioned by Vessel and Future Materials to create a statement entry desk as part of the project. Mark’s design ethos with ‘a craft-centric approach to contemporary design’ aligned perfectly with our vision for the entry. As a hyper local supplier Bauwerk seemed like the obvious choice. Bauwerk Limewash Paints are an exceptionally eco-friendly choice, crafted from natural materials through a low-impact process that eliminates chemicals and toxins. The paint used for Vessel is Periwinkle. Gorilla Construction was contracted to implement the build and design, special thanks to their problem solving for disassembly and adapting to a heritage building. We would like to thank the whole team for an amazing project which lays the foundation for an exciting future for Vessel.

Artist-in-Residency  The whole team is hands on deck and are working hard to get our Artist-in-residency ready for next week. Our first major infrastructure project is set to launch next week, breathing new life into the Naval Store ground floor. The Artist-in-Residence and Foyer Project—a brilliant collaboration between Future Materials and Vessel—reimagines this heritage space using stunning repurposed old growth jarrah and karri timbers generously donated by Fremantle Port, alongside cleverly upcycled packaging materials. This thoughtful transformation creates not just an entrance, but a flexible residency and community space that warmly welcomes visitors. The design boldly reflects our vision to establish a contemporary art space of genuine significance whilst demonstrating our unwavering commitment to sustainability, community engagement and forward-thinking artistic practice. Join us as we unveil this exciting new chapter for Naval Store—on Friday 9th of May. Special thanks to @futurematerials.co , Ren Tapley, Gorilla Construction, Bauwerk and Fremantle Ports.
