in 2006 I returned to living in Berlin after a one year try in London (part 2 of me livin’ in London) Me and Sassy lived in a huge house on Schlesisches Tor, and in my music room I got busy creating my album “Space Rocker”. I wished to revisit some of my first themes and intentions that got me started as a musician and composer. This was a fantastic re-connection I was also experimenting a lot with Arturia synthesizer emulations and cool Mellotron plug-ins, surprised at how good they had gotten the characteristics and mood — fer sure. “INTRO” was new material based on the joy of just cutting loose and experimenting on SOUNDS. The video was made during a trip to Bear Creek Studio in Seattle, joyously running around in a field there with a dog happily chasing me, holding a lime green frisbee. First Scratchings Of Light is a longer form video I made on my Gordotronic Youtube channel. Filmed in Berlin, New York, London and Liverpool. Various Trips.

From The Desk of Mental Mannequin: One of the segments from my recent "Attention Seeker" series. This one discusses books, and early signs of extreme showing off… At the elementary school level. The series was a lot of fun, and a joy to make. So I'll be showing several more installations soon! Kon Tiki all the way

This version of my song, “I SAID” was produced by the epic Moses Schneider at Transporterraum Berlin. Sarah Maguire did an amazing job of singing it, Nackt played guitar leads, I played rude guitar noise and Arp Synth (also chanted the background vocals), Producer Moses played the bassline, and our friend Tom Marsh played perfect drums. My first version was with 505 drum machine and recorded by myself on a 4-track reel to reel. Second version was Colour Twigs, song 1, done with Synclavier and 24 track 2 inch tape at Triangle Studio in Ballard (Seattle). 3rd version was this one with Sassy Maguire singing — I love all the versions. YES! @mosesschneiderofficial @sassy_von__plastik @tommarsh @pcnackt 🔱✈️👋🫶

You can order my book quite easily on Amazon, or if you want to get a signed copy sent from me from England, go to Wordville Press website and order the book, and be sure to put in the comments that you want me to sign it. Easy as that really!! ✈️⭐️❤️👋## pS: the lovely song playing in the background is my tune called "Savage Flower". This song was written in Seattle, but I recorded it in London and Berlin it's from my album "Floodlight Of The Moon" available everywhere online

RED MARTIAN brought me to ElectroKitty studio in Seattle to record their heavy influenced music stuff. Their leader, Stephen Jones is a genius on guitar AND synthesizers ... he also perfectly repairs all analog synthesizers, woah!!! ANYWAY, I think people should know about some of the things I produce and work on, and how I exist check out Ghost Into The Fog by Red Martian on all streaming things @redmartianofficial and @peaveyelectronics

Calling anyone who ever wanted to make a scene. This event brings together Southampton’s most exciting young bands and Gordon Raphael, the producer of Is This It and other records that have shaped the sound of indie rock for the last 25 years. The night will culminate in a live discussion that draws on Gordon’s experience of the birth of grunge in 1990s Seattle and New York City’s 2000s indie sleaze movement. It will also feature electric live performances from self-styled ‘vampire oil refinery autotune rock’ artist Wall Street, and poetic post-punk legends Frontwoman. We aim to inspire local musicians and fans alike to launch themselves into this budding scene. Tickets live on the Heartbreakers website. #livemusic #indierock #wallstreet #grungecity #isthisit

My particular nasty attitude about the world was always reflected in my music with rough edges and aggressive noise qualities. This is the first song I ever recorded, for example. It's called SUBSTITUTE MUSIC. it's something that can be used when normal music doesn't really fit the bill! this is also my first production, and once I recorded this and finished it I was satisfied for the first time in my life, and I called myself a music producer from that moment forward. innocently presumptuous, precious precocious and oh so serious… The year I made this song was 1980, January 1 in fact, and I already had this tendency to combine industrial mega noise and psychedelic trip out experiential ambience yeah, not to mention the completely nonsensical but oh so sincere poetry!!!

Ecstatic to unveil the artwork for 'Rumours' 🎨 Realised by the talented @cathedral.rat ✏️ After discovering the awesome work he had produced for fellow Lincoln artists we decided to keep this one homegrown, albeit the song's message is universal 🌎 As with all of our tracks, there is a lot going on narratively, but the main takeaway is that this life can be a bumpy, roller coaster of a ride - enjoy it while it lasts! 🎢 People will badmouth you when you try to do good things, you will be stabbed in the back, trust and relationships will break down, but ultimately, you will heal, rise above it all and have a good laugh about it. Very proud and excited to be working with @gordonraphael - much more to come..! 🎶 #rumours #riseaboveit #televisedmind #gordonraphael #indiepunk

Wordville has officially joined the Salamander Street Instagram feed, so it feels right to bring in a proper rock ’n’ roll classic. The World Is Going To Love This is Gordon Raphael’s memoir of life inside the studio with The Strokes, from the basement sessions at Transporterraum NYC to the sound that helped rewire guitar music in the early 2000s. A producer’s-eye view of creativity, chaos, breakups, breakthroughs and the moment a band finds its sound. Drop us a note if you'd like a signed copy. #TheStrokes #GordonRaphael #IsThisIt #RoomOnFire #TheModernAge #MusicMemoir #RockMemoir #IndieRock #NYCMusicScene #MusicBooks #Bookstagram
