What are you going to do to celebrate World Kindness Day? “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” - Aesop #worldkindnessday #bekind

Today, Friday 10th October, is World Mental Health day. This years theme is “Access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies” Mental health is more than a small part of our lives – it’s every moment of every day. It’s a hard day’s work and a catch-up with friends. It’s when you become a parent and the day you lose someone you love. It’s the times you reach out for support and the years you spend on a waiting list. It’s the fight for a mental health system that works and hospitals that are safe. Mental health matters on the days when everything happens and the days when nothing happens. When life is busy and unpredictable and when it’s quiet and ordinary too. #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #reachout #itsoknottobeok

There is alot of misunderstanding out there around food poisoning with the most common being people thinking it was the last thing that they ate that has made them ill. Whilst this can sometimes be the case it could actually be something that you have eaten in the previous 72 hours that is making you ill. 72 hours is 3 FULL days ago!!! Most food poisoning doesn't come from restaurants/takeaways - majority of food posioning cases are believed to start right at home with some estimates suggesting that as many as 80% of all food borne illnesses originate at home. This is often due to improper handling, preparation and storage of food, poor hand washing and not cooking food to safe internal temperatures. #foodposioning #foodpoisoningisnojoke #foodposioningawareness

September is Sepsis Awareness month and today, 13th September is World Sepsis Day Sepsis is a life threatening condition that arises when the body's response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs, with the immune system going into overdrive. It can lead to shock, mulitple organ failure and death if not recognised and treated quickly. Sepsis ALWAYS starts with an infection, such as a chest infection or UTIs. It is not known why some people develop sepsis in response to these common infections whereas other people don't. In the UK, 5 people lose their life to sepsis every HOUR in the UK #sepsisawareness #worldsepsisday #sepsisawarenessmonth #savelives #recognisethesigns

September 8th - 14th 2025 is Know Your Numbers Week. Know Your Numbers Week is a public health campaign focused on raising awareness about the importance of monitoring your blood pressure. Organized by Blood Pressure UK, this annual event encourages people to get their blood pressure checked and understand what the numbers mean. Know Your Numbers Week aims to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to take control of their health by keeping track of their blood pressure. Normal blood pressure is considered to be anywhere between 90/60 and 120/80 There are several “at home” monitoring devices available on the market however it is worth noting that these 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 always 100% accurate although are much more reliable than they were 20 years ago. They will, however, give you a good idea of what is going on over a period of time. High blood pressure or hypertension is often referred to as the “silent killer” and can, for many, be an unknown underlying condition. If left untreated, it can lead to serious health issues such as heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease. High blood pressure affects an estimated 17 million people in the UK. Click on the link in the comments to see exactly what it is, what causes it and ways to reduce hypertension therefore reducing the risk of having a stroke. #knowyournumbers #knowyournumbersweek #bloodpressureuk
