Back in March I asked Shad if he could get me a Standard 22”. He called them up and they had a batch of 21” top tubes ready for paint. I ended up going with this dark olive color which came out super sick.
The smaller top tube size was perfect and just what I needed.
I always wanted a Standard growing up and here we are at age 40. I get so much joy out of just cruising the neighborhood with the pup and attempting to learn to ride again at the trails and parks. Very humbling. But I am here for it.
I got a few goals with BMX. I’ll list them here.
1. Get comfortable at Gateway Green.
2. Relearn unturndowns, turndowns, and lookbacks.
3. air quarters comfortably again
4. Ride with old crew down in Cali. You know who you are.

Let me give you the not so long winded information. Music has always been an integral part of BMX to us, we wanted to do something on BMX riders who play music in this issue, and to find out the experience of actually making some music our selves…
Inspired after watching Eddie Roman in Ride like a man make his own songs to a couple of sections from said video I instantly thought, we need to do something like this.
We went into rehearsal rooms every week for 1 year, at the end of that year went into a recording studio and came out with 3 of our own ‘metal’ songs… which are the songs on the record. Theres a QR code for download inside as we know most people have no record player. Our journey into this project is covered with in the magazine.
