We had an incredible bike rally yesterday morning! More than 130 cyclists rode together on a four-mile trip through the City of Orange. A big thank you to Directors William Go, Mark Tettemer, Tam T. 🚧 The San Juan Creek Bridge Replacement Project reached a new milestone! Crews finished removing the 109-year-old railroad bridge in San Juan Capistrano, following the transition of rail service to the new bridge last October. Construction continues as crews build the foundation for a potential future bridge. The project, expected to be completed in early 2027, is part of OCTA’s ongoing work to enhance rail safety and reliability in Orange County. Visit our website to learn more.
The OCTA Board held a workshop on a proposed $2 billion balanced budget that prioritizes transit investments along with other improvements to the transportation network to support a reliable and sustainable system for Orange County, no matter how people choose to get around.
Measure M, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, also plays an important role in protecting the county’s open spaces. A portion of Measure M funding is dedicated to preserving and restoring land to help offset environmental impacts of Measure M-funded freeway projects. More than 1,300 acres have been acquired in Brea, Laguna Beach, Silverado Canyon, and Trabuco Canyon, and 13 restoration projects covering nearly 350 acres have been funded across the county. Fifteen years ago, Orange County voters chose to continue investing locally in transportation by renewing a half-cent sales tax. That investment continues to transform the county, delivering improvements that keep pace with significant growth while preparing for the future.
