Not sure if college is worth it? Start with this: the value is not only in the degree. It’s also in what you learn about yourself along the way. J.J. Becerra, who was the student speaker at Honors Day earlier this month and is heading into his senior year at GBC, shared his perspective on how college helped him build confidence, find mentors, and see new possibilities for his future. His advice is a good reminder for anyone who is still deciding: look for a place where you can grow, ask questions, get support, and make the experience your own. Read J.J.’s full story at the Student highlight in our bio. 💙 #CollegeAdvice #StudentSuccess #GoldeyBeacomCollege

The tassels were worth the hassle. 🎓 Today was full of the moments that make Commencement unforgettable: nervous excitement while getting ready, advisors fixing regalia one last time, families cheering from the crowd, happy tears, decorated grad caps, hugs in every direction, and that feeling when years of hard work finally become real. From student speaker Hannah Bell’s inspiring words to the energy from our faculty, Skyline Middle School’s choir, and proud family members filling the room, this year’s ceremony reminded us what the GBC community is all about: people showing up for each other. And yes, President Colleen Perry Keith getting startled by the confetti cannon may have earned its own graduation memory status. To the Class of 2026: we are so proud of you and so excited to see what comes next. ⚡💙 #CollegeGraduation #ClassOf2026 #GBCGrad

She didn’t always picture herself in college. Now, she’s taking the stage as the Class of 2026 student speaker. Hannah Bell is graduating magna cum laude as an English major with a concentration in Legal Studies, earning the highest GPA in the program. Originally from Cecil County, Maryland, she spent much of her time horseback riding before finding her path at Goldey-Beacom College. Hannah began her journey as a Business major, but after her first semester, she discovered writing and everything shifted. As a commuter student balancing multiple jobs, she still found ways to get involved. She worked as an embedded tutor for Critical Writing I and II, served as President of the Entrepreneurship Club in 2024, and helped lead a sustainability project that gained global recognition, earning her a Leadership Excellence Award. But more than anything, writing became the part of college that meant the most. Hannah is a two-time poetry competition winner and a featured poet at The Delaware Contemporary. As this year’s student speaker, she’s honored to represent her class. To her, writing is connection. It’s how we make sense of the world, relate to one another, and leave something behind. This speech is more than a moment. It’s a reflection of everything the Class of 2026 has experienced, captured in words that will last. ⚡💙 @hannahhhh.bell_ #CollegeGraduation #StudentSpeaker #BeacomABolt

The unknown isn’t always easy. But it might be exactly what you need. Chase, a rising junior and Spring 2026 Marketing Micro-Internship student, shares a real look at growth, uncertainty, and figuring things out as you go. His latest blog doesn’t focus on the internship itself, but on something bigger—learning to embrace situations that feel unfamiliar and using them to build confidence. Because sometimes the moments where you’re unsure… are the ones that teach you the most. You can read Chase's full blog post on our website (gbc.edu --> About --> News --> Community), or in our Students highlight 💙 #CollegeLife #StudentStories #GoldeyBeacomCollege

Media days aren’t just for student-athletes ⚡ Earlier this semester, the Bolt Media student group hosted Commuter Media Day, giving students across campus the chance to step in front of the camera and get professional-quality photos of themselves. While many who joined were commuters, this was for anyone who wanted to show up, have some fun, and be part of it. Because no matter how you get here, you’re part of the story 💙 Shoutout to @jayjay_rickski for editing! #CollegeLife #CommuterStudent #BeacomABolt

She came to GBC to keep playing the game she loves. She’s leaving with so much more. 🏀 Meet Azra Ozgul, a recent graduate, Women’s Basketball student-athlete, and Financial Aid intern who made the most of every opportunity along the way. From Turkey to Pike Creek, Azra chose Goldey-Beacom College to grow both on the court and in the classroom—and built lasting connections with teammates, professors, and mentors who helped shape her journey. Now, she’s taking that next step as a Care Coordinator at United Medical, a role she landed through a GBC connection. It’s just the beginning of her goal to make an impact working with people—and one day, to become a sports psychologist. Her advice? Get involved early. Build relationships. Step outside your comfort zone. Azra is proof of what can happen when you show up, stay focused, and take advantage of every opportunity. To read more about her journey, check out the blog on our website.⚡️ @azra.ozgul #StudentAthlete #CollegeJourney #BeacomABolt
