Hiya GMK fully repainted and combined with the @godzilla_154 custom head
This was meant to be a break from the Shin Godzilla repaint but I ended up finishing him pretty quickly all things considered
GMK is my favorite Godzilla design, the film is also one of my favorites, so I really was excited and nervous painting this up. I liked the base Hiya figure aside from its wonky head/neck/back and terrible hands, but I do think it’s one of the rare good GMK figures (my top two are the Bandai 8 inch and SHMA which is also flawed but great).
This was relatively simple but a challenge because how do i get that lighter grey tone? How do I make the eys have depth? Thankfully @radbrads_customs1997 helped me out big time, and so did 154 for the eye technique, but I chose to use silver with a light buttermilk/ivory. GMK has black-grey eyes with the smallest hint of white for an iris so I wanted to try to replicate that.
I am happy to say I succeeded.
I was also happy to get the fins into a proper accurate (or accurate enough due to my inexperience) paintjob look with the “frosted tip” look.
My only regret is not doing the grey inner flesh in between the scales, I didn’t want a light grey was to ruin my paintjob.

“Atomic Reptile: Reverse Beast” large resin bust

The 1955 Godzilla suit is my favorite Showa design. And I’m honored to paint such an accurate sculpt of this unnerving yet charming iteration of the Big G. Using various reference photos of the suit, I did my best to recreate this devil-eared beast as accurately as I could.
The jaw and base itself are separate from the main head. They slot in perfectly, but after painting the inside of the mouth and every individual fang, I then glued the jaw to the head and filled the seam. The inside gum flesh has various shades of reds, browns, and some purple to bring it to life. The 1955 suit had a fairly dark mouth from what we can see from the footage and photos (albeit grayscale), so I made sure the mouth on this bust is portrayed the same way. The teeth are fully individually painted, with detail in the teeth added using an incredibly tiny brush. The holes in the neck for viewing in the suit, are lightly colored just like said suit. Various browns, grays, black, and some blues were added to the skin to bring him to life. His brows are lighter in tone like the suit, and the wrinkles in the sculpt are darkened to give depth. I gave the eyes their iconic uneven oval pupil, with various veins individually painted on the outer corners of the eyes. Clear resin was used for the eyes, mouth, nostrils, and inside of the ears. I gave the base the same wood painted effect like I did with the puppet 54- albeit darker in tone to not blur the texture at the base.
This piece took months of work, and incredible patience. I am so happy to share this here and to all of you! Please enjoy the photos I took.

And ofc the final peice to the collection. With every toy promotional shoot you gotta have the fun shot as well as the shots that show off the product as a whole.
I will say because of my assignment being a must for compositery i had a bit of some issues trying to relearn everything from the past but i feel pretty satisfied.

“Atomic Reptile: 54 Puppet Beast” Sculpted by @godzilla_154 and Painted by myself

This guy was a little project between bigger projects. I like to do these smaller things between others to keep my motivation up. And I’m so glad it was this guy. I absolutely love the puppets used in 1954 (roaring and atomic breath one). And to have this beautiful and faithful sculpt really makes me happy.
Obviously, it’s in color. I was originally going to do b&w but decided on color to show more shades and depth. Using the official colorization clips of 1954 from Toho, I put together what I needed as reference. He is gray, with subtle hints of browns, blues, and slight greens on his body. It really helps bring out those details and depth. His mouth is fleshy, as it should be! I even painted small veins in the back. The eyes are done to be bloodshot, really giving that eerie effect that this design carried throughout the film. I made his base painted to look wooden, thought it was neat. His eyes are facing different directions of course, just like the puppet!
Clear resin was used on his eyes, areas of the gums, his nostrils, and ears. I really like adding such detail on the nostrils and ears at times. It really gives off a “living creature” or “sickly” feel. Really brings it together!
