It's May 12th, which means it's Earth's greatest human's birthday!! Happy birthday to my queen @cynthiaschemmer the strongest, smartest, sweetest lady there ever was, I love you so much.
My dad passed away on Friday morning. He's been slowly eaten away by dementia over the last 7 years so while it's sad to see him go, it's also a massive relief that he doesn't have to exist in that state anymore. They call dementia the long goodbye for a reason. He had a form called FTD which takes away your ability to find the words you want to say first. Over time the sentences get shorter, and words simpler and less frequent. It's been years since we've had an actual conversation because of this disease. The last couple years he didn't know my name or really who I was besides a "good guy". I saw him less than 2 weeks ago and when he looked at me it was like I wasn't even there. We rushed out to Michigan last Friday morning again but missed him by a couple hours. I wanted to play "against the wind" one last time for him. Some of you had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with my dad. He was really good at hanging out and having a good time. If you knew him, pour out a bud light and blast some Bob Seger for him. These are just some photos I had easy access to. I'll probably post some more when I get home and comb through the boxes in our house. Love you dad.
It's Turtle's gotcha day! 2 years of pure joy (once she stopped biting our throats and eyes while we were sleeping, she was pretty fucking scary for the first 5 or 6 months). Here's some pictures from the last year for all her fans out there.
It's the gruesome two-some's first birthday today! We don't know when they were born, but this is close enough and it's an easy day to remember. I never hard posted that Gale and Sid joined the family, but they did. We were going to adopt out Gale but someone... Me, had a meltdown when it was time to bring her over to @alidonohue 's house and she had to stay. Glad I freaked out and we kept her. A few people's lives would be different if I hadn't (but that's a whole other story). Wish our cats a happy birthday and Venmo them so they can buy churu's and bouncy balls to celebrate their day.
It's May 12th and you know what that means?!!? It's @cynthiaschemmer 's birthday and we got a milestone this year folks! She's a whole fish eating, cat wrangling, lamp addict and I couldn't love her anymore for it. We're going to celebrate her big 4-0 by seeing one of our mutual favorites Neil Young for the first time tonite. Love you so much babe!
It's Turtle's gotcha day. 1 year flew by! She couldn't have broken into our house at a better time. We ended up really needing her around. Shes come a long way from pregnant with worms and fleas to being a supremely sweet chiller. First 2 slides are from when I let her in the house and broke the news to @cynthiaschemmer . Second to last is from when she used to sit on our lap outside when we'd leave for or come home from work.
Last slide is the first time I saw her in our front yard crunching through and eating chicken bones.
Let's try this again! Making up for our last failed attempt. Very excited to see all the old friends and not be at work for a week. Getting to see @_grassface_ 2 days in a row really makes me happy. And @perfectlygoodtommy owes me like 6 million dollars which also makes me happy.
Quick little tour starts today! Looking forward to seeing old friends and feeling like a normal human again after taking care of my dad the last 2 months.
4 years of wedded bliss with the best of the best. Another relationship milestone that we're spending apart, but the end is coming very soon and we'll be reunited again shortly. Making bad jokes, calling the cat dumb names that make no sense, watching our stories, cooking dinner, I can't wait. Love you @cynthiaschemmer
12 years since we decided to go steady. My instagram grid is slowly just turning into her birthday and anniversary posts. Even though we're currently 702 miles apart this 12th year has made us into an unwavering force. We lost our angel of a cat, we lost our unborn child, and we're losing my father's mind and his ability to function, but we have each other and that's worth celebrating. Love you @cynthiaschemmer
