April is Earth Month! This is a great time to reflect on how our everyday choices impact the planet.
Food waste is often overlooked in climate conversations, yet it’s one of the most significant environmental challenges we face today. When food is wasted, so are the resources used to produce, transport, and store it... and it contributes to greenhouse gas emissions in landfills.
This month brings key moments to raise awareness and take action:
🌎 Earth Day: April 22
🥗 Stop Food Waste Day: April 29
Addressing food waste is a powerful way to support both people and the planet. Join us this April as we spotlight solutions and share how we can all make an impact.
This is what food rescue actually looks like behind the scenes. Every item is weighed, every temperature checked, every label verified.
At @littlespain surplus food isn’t treated like waste, it’s treated like responsibility. Through @gocopia , incredible meals like this paella move from restaurant kitchens directly into the community instead of into the trash.
Technology doesn’t replace hospitality, it extends it beyond the dining room.

At AC Hotel Asheville, we believe great stays go hand-in-hand with great stewardship of our planet and community. That’s why we’re proud to partner with organizations making a real difference.
✨ @gocopia Food Rescue: Copia is a nonprofit dedicated to fighting food waste and hunger by rescuing surplus food from businesses and redistributing it to local communities in need. Through this partnership, AC Hotel Asheville has diverted 728 pounds of perfectly good food from landfills and donated 607 meals to neighbors facing food insecurity. It’s a win for the environment and our community alike.
✨ Clean the World: @clean_the_world works to improve global hygiene and reduce waste by recycling used soap and plastic amenities from hotels, then distributing them to communities lacking access to basic hygiene products. Thanks to this partnership, AC Hotel Asheville has donated nearly 800 pounds of soap and recycled 414 pounds of plastics — helping prevent disease and protect the planet.
Every effort counts, and together we’re making meaningful strides toward a more sustainable future. Thank you for joining us on this journey! 💚

Large-scale events have the power to bring people together, but they also have the potential to create a tremendous amount of waste. At Paramount Events, we see that as an opportunity to do better.
At a recent event hosting over 2,300 guests, sustainability remained front and center in every detail. Through careful planning and meaningful partnerships, our team ensured that what could’ve ended up as waste instead became a powerful act of giving.
💚 2.2k pounds of food donated
🍽️ 2.2k community members fed
💧 514k gallons of water saved
🌍 7k pounds of CO₂ diverted
That’s the ripple effect of a meal — extending far beyond the event itself and into the lives of Chicagoans who need it most.
Every event we produce is an opportunity to celebrate responsibly, support our community, and create impact that lasts long after the plates are cleared.

Recently, we were able to match a very unique donation! 🦪🦪🦪
One of our donors, @1hotel.southbeach , was looking to donate a large quantity of oyster shells. We were able to connect the donation with the Biscayne Bay Foundation. The donation of oyster shells will greatly contribute to the Foundation's efforts in cleaning up our waterways. A perfect match!
When organizations donate with Copia their food is connected directly to a nonprofit within 4-7 miles! This gives businesses of all types, shapes, and sizes the opportunity to make a direct impact on their community.

It’s #EarthDay! 🌎
You might be thinking… “Copia, What does food waste have to do with Earth Day?”
Well, unfortunately, our food systems are broken and they are rapidly deteriorating our planet. We’re not here to sugarcoat it.
Nearly 40% of all food produced in the US ends up in the landfill (producing methane!), much of it being perfectly edible food – a valuable resource that should be used to feed our neighbors in need. Reducing food waste is an integral part of the solution to climate change for our planet, and the people living on it.
The good news is that you can be part of the solution! If your business has surplus food – stop sending it to the landfill and send it to one of the many nonprofit organizations eager to receive donations.
