We would like to inform you that guided tours at Gyeongju National Museum will be temporarily suspended on the following dates in May:
❤ April 30 (Thu) – May 5 (Tue)
Regular guided tours of the permanent exhibitions (Korean and English) will not be available.
※ However, tours on April 30 at 10:00 AM (Silla Art Exhibition Hall) and 11:00 AM (Silla History Exhibition Hall) will operate as scheduled.
❤ May 23 (Sat) – May 25 (Mon)
Regular guided tours of the permanent exhibitions (Korean and English) will not be available.
We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

국립경주박물관과 국립경주문화유산연구소가 특집 전시 ｢83년 만에 만남, 경주 월성에서 찾은 비석 조각｣을 개최합니다.
이번 전시는 83년 만에 다시 만난 두 비석 조각을 처음으로 선보이는 자리입니다.
1937년 발견돼 국립경주박물관 수장고에 보관되던 비석 조각과, 2020년 국립경주문화유산연구소에서 발견한 또 다른 조각이 다시 하나로 이어진 이야기를 만나보세요.
4월 13일부터 8월 17일까지 열리는 이번 전시는 신라천년보고 로비에서 관람하실 수 있습니다.
The Gyeongju National Museum and the Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage are proud to present the special exhibition: “Reunited After 83 Years: Stele Fragments Discovered at Wolseong Palace Site”
This exhibition marks the historic public debut of two stone fragments that have finally found each other again after more than eight decades.
Come and discover the remarkable story behind this reunion: one piece discovered in 1937, and another unearthed in 2020 by the research institute.
Now, they are brought together as one.

신라인의 효심❤️
5월 8일, 어버이날을 맞아 신라인의 효심을 엿볼 수 있는 문화유산을 소개합니다.
먼저 살펴볼 문화유산은 성덕대왕신종입니다.
성덕대왕신종은 경덕왕이 아버지 성덕왕의 명복을 빌기 위해 만들려던 종입니다. 그러나 경덕왕이 뜻을 이루지 못한 채 세상을 떠나자, 그의 아들 혜공왕이 종을 완성했습니다. 성덕대왕신종은 아버지를 위해, 아버지의 뜻을 이은 효심의 결정판입니다.
다음 문화유산은 석굴암에서 발견된 금강역사와 천불소탑입니다.
『삼국유사』에서는 김대성이 현세의 부모를 위해 불국사를, 전생의 부모를 위해 석불사 즉 우리가 잘 아는 석굴암을 세웠다고 전합니다.
국립경주박물관 전시실에서 석굴암 금강역사상 일부와 작은 탑을 만나보실 수 있습니다.
신라인의 효심이 담긴 문화유산을 국립경주박물관에서 찾아보며, 부모님의 사랑과 은혜를 다시 한번 떠올려보세요.😌
The Filial Devotion of the Silla People ❤️
To mark Parents’ Day on May 8, we would like to introduce several cultural treasures that reflect the deep filial devotion of the people of Silla.
The first is the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok.
King Gyeongdeok originally commissioned this great bell in honor of his father, King Seongdeok, praying for his eternal peace. However, before the bell could be completed, King Gyeongdeok passed away. His son, King Hyegong, later fulfilled his father’s wish and completed the bell.
The Divine Bell of King Seongdeok stands as a masterpiece of filial piety — a son carrying on his father’s devotion to his own father.
Another cultural treasure connected to filial devotion can be found in Seokguram Grotto: the Vajrapani Guardian and the Miniature Thousand Buddhas Pagoda.
According to the Samguk Yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms), Kim Daeseong built Bulguksa Temple for the parents of his present life, and Seokbulsa — known today as Seokguram Grotto — for the parents of his previous life.
At the museum, visitors can see part of the Vajrapani Guardian statue from Seokguram and a small pagoda associated with the site.
As you explore these cultural treasures shaped by the filial devotion of the Silla people at Gyeongju National Museum, we hope you will take a moment to reflect once more on the love and grace of your own parents. 😌
