@hellodearproductions Hello Dears! 🖤🙌🏾🎉
We’re very excited to let everyone know that not only has our lovely little film Maŋutji (Catching Eyes) made the cut and will be premiering at the Sydney Film Festival in June (!!!), but it’s also a finalist in two categories; the Dendy Award for Best Live Action Australian Short and the First Nations Award!
We’re so incredibly grateful to have made this film in Yirrkala with the support of the Yolŋu families and community and can’t thank them enough.
A big thank you to Screen Australia, NITV, ABC and Screen Territory and the Proper Loved Up initiative for making this film possible. Shout out to the other teams and stories. Can’t wait to see them!
And importantly - massive massive thanks to our epic crew, who helped make this story and cared for it so much.
“I started making films from a fear of losing things, and now it turns out I’ve gained so much from working with incredible people on this project” - Writer/Director Siena Mayutu Wurmarri Stubbs
Such an important person- to the nation's soul and to our family. So grateful to her for taking us under her wing 💔 Get @reshare_app • @gg_australia Rhoda Roberts AO - Widjabul Wieybal woman from the Bundjalung nation - was a trailblazing national treasure - an immense talent, dynamic leader and innovator and beloved colleague and mentor to so many.
On stage and screen, in the media, storytelling, and guiding institutions, across a career spanning five decades, Rhoda inspired audiences, and us all.
Her impact as a leader, especially in mentoring and developing other creatives and promoting First Nations storytelling and voices in media in Australia & globally was profound. Her commitment to the SBS as inaugural Elder In Residence, and cultural institutions across her life was remarkable.
But most of all she was a dear friend to so many. The Governor-General & Mr Beckett were honoured to see her perform her last extraordinary show, My Cousin Frank, at the Sydney Opera House in December, and participate in a beautiful tribute celebrating her life, surrounded by her family and so many friends.
Her short battle with cancer is now over, and the Governor General’s love and warm wishes are with her family, friends and communities where she will be so missed, but never forgotten.
Vale.
Turning 24 is just an excuse for your Dad to find an embarrassing photo of you with an electrified rotating Cinderella lollipop and a tramp stamp. Love you 🥰
