I donāt know how easy or difficult it is for guitar players to change guitar picks, this holiday season I changed my guitar pick after more than 2 decades. Of course I was anxious, I just need a reason to be š I think Iām well adjusted now.
Thank you bro @bimal.dhorda for telling me, āitās nothing bro⦠youāll get used to itā š .

Coping Mechanisms
When you read that phrase, think of it as a young brainās survival strategy. Try to remember yourself as a child... You might have experienced a disturbing event and somehow found a way to escape into your playful child life.
Imagine that version of you facing a world that didnāt feel safe. That brain solved a puzzleā¦. it created an escape route, a āsafe spaceā where the pain couldnāt reach. It wasnāt just a habit⦠it was an act of survival.
Cut to: Adulthood, still using that same 8 year old toolkit. Oh, the mess!

Iāve known Lorraine since we were kids, but watching her work behind the camera for āDissociative Identities Disorderā felt like meeting a stranger with a real talent.
It started years ago with her capturing live sets on an iPhone, and it took me some time to realize it wasnāt the gear⦠I had to start looking at her perspective. She has a specific flair for making a frame feel aliveā¦that rare POV⦠that you canāt teach.
Sheās a brilliant collaborator because she has the mind of an artist and the discipline of a producer. She handled the logistics, directed the vision, and, most importantly, wasnāt afraid to tell me when a take wasnāt good enough.
This film wouldnāt have its pulse without her.
.
It was very hard to convince her to do this on camera. I really wanted to get a few clips of her talking... I would have done that with any other creative I worked with. Thereās always something there to take away from.

Check out her work at the link in my bio. āDissociative Identities Disorderā is out now.
DID out now!
Iām not a rapper, but Iām a big fan of the art form. Iāve had my favorites⦠from the NWA, Tupac, and Biggie era, to Eminem, Nipsey, and Kendrick. All popular artists, of course. Itās been there in my listening playlist.
Iāve had the good fortune to work with hip-hop artists from our Mumbai scene as a music producer in the past, and even today as a sessionist. Iāve admired the skill of wordplay, rhyme schemes, and storytelling that these artists possess. So, when I decided to give this form of writing a try, I looked at it as a vehicle to carry my song, because that is how much I had to say at the time.
This 7-minute song took me four days to complete. I tried everything with it⦠harmonies, odd-time signature flows, storytelling... but I cannot deny that it was not as easy as standard songwriting. It humbled me. Itās taught me to bare it all if I have something to say. I have a deeper appreciation for this art form and respect for people who have an impeccable flow.

If you would have told me 2 years ago that Iād be travelling, playing LIVE music with different musicians from different walks of life, play Hindi film music at parties, weddings, play listening sessions, Indie fests, learn songs from different cultures, multilingual setlists⦠and thatās how I will make a living. I would have laughed at your face⦠maybe cussed at you too.
Life was on the edge and I was going through the dryest times of my life as a musician. I had made up my mind that I would give it up and probably take a job.
Life/God⦠I donāt know much about faith⦠but look at that face of a little boy from Behrambaug smiling⦠Yes life is unpredictable, I may or may not have this tomorrow ⦠but this right here⦠Iām just deeply grateful to be experiencing all this.

If youāve watched the video by now, youāll understand that we ourselves tried to set the bar really high or being over ambitious. It was just Lorraine with a camera, 2 bar lights and 3 days 3 nights of shoot schedule. We started early morning and finish late nights with two breaks of lunch and dinner⦠A strict schedule that we both followed to get what we were imagining or trying to visualise. There were a lot of things planned, a lot of it didnāt work out and we worked around so many things in the edit. Posting some pictures and shots from that time⦠A glimpse into DID.

This was right after an early morning shoot, the sun was out so we couldnāt shoot. However, we were constantly vlogging throughout the shoot schedule. Thought maybe thereāll be something from this we would be able to use after the release⦠looking back, 2 years later everything we shot as innocent vlogging, has turned out to be small pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.
.
More to come.
They say we grow up, but mostly we just get better at disguising our childhood survival skills.
My new single, āDissociative Identities Disorder,ā is an exploration of that internal landscape⦠the parts of us that fragment and the parts that hold on.
If youāre willing to take a trip, the link is in my bio. If not, have a lovely day.
Either way, thanks for being here. āØšš¾āØ
It has taken over two years for this song to finally reach the world. What you see here is the result of immense love, mutual admiration, and relentless hard work. A single shout-out could never do justice to the effort behind this project.
Saahas, thank you for helping me find the best in this music. You are deeply loved and treasured; I truly couldnāt have done this without you. Thank you for letting me throw everything at the mic and for always holding such a judgment-free space for me.
Lorraine, thank you for the beautiful film you shot. You have an incredible gift, and Iām so glad we reached this milestone together. This feels like our first real collaboration. I love you, and I canāt wait to see you explore filmmaking even further. Shine on!
Savio, thank you for the color grading. There is no one else I would have trusted with this vision; you truly brought the film to life. To say Iām āproudā doesnāt quite cover it your talent and work ethic define you. Iām so grateful we worked on this together. Wishing you the best, little brother. I love you.
