Black Alabamians won electoral democracy for the People of our country, and for the cause of the People around the world. they did it with a diversity of means and strategies from a place of disempowerment against centuries-old racial, social, and economic systems of power. and they won. just as it was in the 1960s, the oligarchs and the state are the enemy of democracy, of equality, of enfranchisement.
but the people have the power.
THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER.
THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER.
done playing dead.

thank you to @hubcitywriters for putting together the kind words that different writers have been generous enough to write about Work Lunch. because each of these writers have made work that means a lot to me, i just wanted to mention them one at a time.
for over a decade, @kieselaymon has inspired me in the way he wrestles with the systems of power that inflict pain, injustice, deprivation, exploitation and deceit on the people, and how those systems permeate from bombing campaigns to boardrooms to bedrooms. his depth of vision, razor mind, and abundant heart, thick with the reality and beauty of Mississippi, make these words mean a hell of a lot to me. thank you brother.

yesterday evening, i got an advanced reader copy of WORK LUNCH from @hubcitywriters , having just gotten home from a workday wherein i ate lunch at a favorite spot mentioned in the book, and saw that they'd sent it through the USPS, where my granddaddy spent 36 years worth of workdays as an NALC letter carrier. i'm grateful to work, to those who struggle to remain independent of, resistant to, and united against the consolidation of wealth and power, and to those who value the worker with their wage. power to the workers of this land and of this world. if you want an advanced copy for review or whatever, you can holler at Hub City or let me know, and we'll get it figured out. thanks, y'all.
No war for imperialists, fascists, and oligarchs! From Texas to Tehran, from Atlanta to Havana, from the Carolinas to Caracas, all power to the People!
