More Americans want Europe. Europe is starting to choose back.
A quiet shift is happening on both sides of the Atlantic.
Americans are increasingly looking to Europe for stability, lifestyle, and opportunity. At the same time, Europe is beginning to rethink how easily citizenship — and belonging — should be granted.
In countries like Italy, the rules are already tightening.
The message is becoming clearer: citizenship is no longer just about where your ancestors came from — but how you connect to that place today.
Slovakia is now at the center of this moment.
Since opening citizenship by descent in 2022, interest has surged. But with that growth comes a deeper question:
What does it mean to truly belong?
Because in the years ahead, the difference may not be who qualifies —
but who demonstrates a meaningful connection.

⚖️ What happens when the rules don’t exist yet?
In the 1990s, Slovakia wasn’t just changing—it was being built in real time.
There were no clear systems. No stable institutions.
The “rules of the game” were still being written—while people were already playing.
Power, money, and influence didn’t follow a predictable path.
Decisions made in uncertainty shaped industries, leadership, and the direction of an entire country.
This is what makes the 90s so important—and so misunderstood.
If you want to understand how modern Slovakia came to be, you have to look at the moment when everything was still in motion.

⛰️ Weekend the Slovak Way 🇸🇰
If you want to understand Slovakia, spend a weekend in the mountains.
For many Slovaks, it’s a ritual—leaving the city behind and heading into the High Tatras for fresh air, good food, and views that reset everything.
Places like Monte Móry, above Štrbské Pleso, capture this perfectly. A historic lookout turned modern café and viewpoint, it sits at over 1,300 meters, offering panoramic views of the Tatras—where coffee tastes better, and time slows down.
Originally built in the early 20th century by Karol Móry, this spot has long been a meeting place for travelers, hikers, and dreamers. Today, it continues that tradition—blending history, nature, and simple joy.
A walk, a view, a warm drink…
That’s a Slovak weekend.

📖 What would make someone leave everything behind and cross an ocean into the unknown?
“Across the Ocean: How Slovaks Settled In America” follows the journey of one Slovak family at the turn of the 19th century as they leave their homeland in search of hope, opportunity, and a better future. Through hardship, sacrifice, and resilience, the story brings to life the experiences shared by so many immigrant families.
More than a historical novel, this book is a way to better understand the courage of our ancestors and the world they lived in. We are excited to share that Across the Ocean is now available on Amazon.
