We're winners of the Inspire Future Generations Awards 2025 in the Not for profit Organisation category. These awards recognise projects that demonstrate excellence, creativity, care, and a genuine commitment to engaging young people in shaping the spaces around them and we are delighted to be in such good company! The judges wrote that we have a, "really innovative programme that doesn’t shy away from risk taking, and with a great legacy with sustainability at its heart. It stands out for its approach and replicable toolkits." As a youth environmental education charity co-creating green spaces across London, we truly believe young people of all ages have a role to play in the built environment and we have learned so much along the way. Scroll through to see some photos of young people across all our sites from brickmaking at Triangle Site, to building cordwood walls at Paper Garden, designing our Floating Garden, getting stuck into planting, ideating and woodworking. šŸ”ØšŸŒ±ā   Photo Credit: 1: Jan Kattein 2: @Ned_Bouverie 3-7 : Global Generation

Paper Garden is one of our gardens co-created with community members and it is a thriving space for our educational programmes, local groups and schools to connect with and learn from nature. We call these our gardens of a thousand hands and we are building a permanent one in Kings Cross, our #TriangleSite. It has been three years since the completion of construction of the community classroom and although it is built directly on top of concrete, you can see how quickly nature establishes itself when you allow it to thrive. With edibles and flowering plants, insects and pollinators, our friendly chickens and more, there are so many parts to this garden to explore. Thanks to Kwesia @citygirlinnature and Seth for showcasing parts of the Paper Garden and stay tuned for more videos showing off our beautiful green oasis! We’re fundraising to support our next green space as part of the @biggiveorg ’s Earth Raise campaign, running this week from April 22-29! With your support we can - plant more trees and create more habitats - run paid traineeships for young people to learn green skills - continue to expand our free youth, school and community programming! Double the difference when you donate this week at the link in our bio! Can’t donate? Tell a friend or come along to our next volunteer day!

It’s been a good few months since we left our site on Ossulston Street!🌿 During the six years we spent in the Somers Town location, we accumulated a vast amount of items, ranging from trees, plants, and outdoor furniture to large building structures and miscellaneous craft and gardening materials. With many of these items not yet at the end of their lifespan, it wasn’t a difficult decision for us to recognise that we wanted to give back to our local communities, who have supported us throughout the years. Our Big Give Away event became our way of doing so. As put by Robin Wall Kimmerer in The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World, ā€œAbundance is fueled by constantly circulating materials, not wasting them.ā€ The practice of circularity is a necessary part of building sustainable models of living. And it was this core ideal that we wanted to bring into practice during our move. So many pieces of the Story Garden have found new homes and life in organisations, groups, and schools, both locally in the Somers Town area (as well as wider London).šŸ’š That being said, it definitely didn’t come without its challenges. Our Events & Communications Manager, Jillian, discusses all this and more on our website.
