Last month, I had the honour of speaking with brilliant young minds at
@tgt.academy , and it was an absolutely lovely time. As always, it’s a pleasure to do one of the things I truly love.
But this post isn’t about the speaking engagement. It’s a public announcement of me giving my baby her flowers.🥹❤️ My Ayinke, the founder of Global Tema Academy.
@global_tema
Honestly, it took me this long to write this because I’ve been trying to gather my thoughts and find the right words to pin it all down.
I met Ayinke in 200 level, when she was still in 100 level. She was so intentional about being in my life. At the time, the idea of being her “school mother” honestly scared me 😹 I was barely figuring life out myself. How do I mummy you, please?
Long story short, we had a conversation in my hostel that changed everything. Perhaps it helped that she came bearing my favourite ice cream🙂↔️😹
That conversation we had four years ago was the turning point. Ayinke became my baby, and looking back now, I’m so glad she didn’t give up on me. Our relationship has taught me so much, and it’s still shaping me till today.
So today, I’m writing this to tell the whole world how proud I am of my baby. Anyone who knows me well knows I answer proudly to “Iya Ayinke”, and I say it with my shoulders high.
Ayinke now runs a foundation focused on training the now and next generation of leaders to become better speakers, leaders, and individuals, and I honestly couldn’t be prouder.
Mama, the sky is only your starting point. I am incredibly proud of the woman you are and the one you’re becoming. I’m so honoured to be in your life, and I’m certain the world will witness your illuminating light.
Like we always say, forever and again 💛
I love you, my baby.
