Gratitude is calling...how do you answer? We have so much to be grateful for, from our bodies and all they do to support us to platforms like this and how much access and connection they bring us. The first step toward alignment is to be grateful for all that we are currently blessed with. In order to invite more of what we love into our lives, it's important for us to celebrate and give thanks to the people, things, and experiences that nourish us. Here are a few ways to practice gratitude and mindfulness. How do you answer when gratitude's calling?

These are a few that help get our creative juices flowing! Zip Zap Zop - A classic warm-up in every improv class and for good reason. This game helps you get focused and energized. It promotes connection through eye contact and active listening, sending each zip / zap / zop out with intention and receiving each one back with full awareness. Freeze Tag - This game promotes creative spontaneity as actors can freeze a scene and tag in to either start a brand new scene or expand on previous ones through call backs. It’s great practice for staying loose and open to whatever comes your way. Casting a Film Status Game - A great way to prime any actor for character work. There are a variety of status games. In this game, we have 4 roles - the director, writer, casting director, and actor. Each role has a different status, 1 being the highest and 4 being the lowest. The actors emulate behaviors associated with their given status, such as 1’s taking up a lot of space and being loud or bossy vs. 4’s making themselves small and speaking softly or apologizing a lot. Through these behaviors, we watch the scene unfold as the actors establish their relationships with each other. Timed ABCs - This game puts actors to work, challenging them to be present with their scene partner so they can respond authentically to what their partner said, all while thinking about which letter of the alphabet their line needs to start with. Timing the game creates a sense of urgency that keeps the scene moving forward and prevents actors from getting stuck in their head. What are some of your favorite improv games!? ⬇️
