The Gliding Award 🤍 @minnierobberds is heading to @glidingbarnacles in Portugal in September 2026. For over 10 years, The Mingle has shared a special connection with the Gliding Barnacles Festival in Portugal. They’ve become like family – a brother / sister festival to us. So much of our community flows between these two events, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. This year brought one of the most special surprises yet. Before The Mingle, GB founder @euricogoncalves reached out with an idea – to award one SFM surfer a trip to Gliding Barnacles this September. We spoke about how to choose, and landed on something simple: let the surfers decide. During the event, our surfers were (unknowingly) asked to vote for the person who best embodied the spirit of The Mingle. The prize wasn’t revealed until this moment at Sunday’s prize giving, when Minnie was announced as the recipient of the Gliding Award – chosen by her peers. Minnie is a Sumner local – a surfer, musician, and all-round beautiful human. She performed at the Friday night street party, competed on Saturday, and spent the weekend commentating. She truly embodies the spirit of these festivals, and we couldn’t be more stoked to see her take this one out. Thank you @glidingbarnacles ❤️‍🔥 🎥 @williamahunt
