Calico start hearing 🎺 when I paddle by….
One of the biggest advantages of fishing from a paddle board is stealth. You can quietly glide up to buoys, docks, and pilings and make a presentation without the noise of a boat or the limited access of fishing from shore.
The approach is simple: ease into position, cast past the structure, and let your bait sink into the strike zone. Most bites happen on the fall, so watch your line closely. If you don’t get bit after a few casts, keep moving and repeat on the next target.
This calico ate exactly where you’d expect it to, tucked tight to structure and waiting for an easy meal.
Shout out

Getting comfortable launching from the beach…..paddling back in? Need a little work 😅
Launching a paddle board from the beach is mostly about timing. Waves build up and break right at the shoreline, so that’s the roughest part you have to get through. Watch the sets for a minute, wait for a lull, then go, don’t hesitate. The less time you spend in that breaking zone, the smoother your launch will be.
Before you even step in the water, make sure everything is secure and balanced. Keep your gear low and spread out so the board stays stable. If things are loose or stacked unevenly, even a small wave can throw you off.
When you launch, point your board straight into the waves and keep moving forward. It’s way easier to stay balanced when you have momentum. If you turn sideways or stop, that’s usually when you get knocked off.
Once you’re past the break, everything calms down. The water smooths out, and it gets a lot easier to settle in and start your session. A clean launch at the start makes the rest of it way more enjoyable.
