Along the River
Wrapping up my New West walk, time to take in the views towards Queensborough. At one time the area was designated to be a defence post for New Westminster, as well as the first capital of the British Colony. That later was to be New Westminster and then later established in Victoria. I call the row of houses looking out towards the Quay the Queensborough Ladies.

The Look of Provence
Returning to France, this memory of the Ultimate town on Provence — Eygalières had been tugging at my heart.

River Walks
While some areas of the New West Quay reflect quiet residential life, others are more about the architecture and river views.

Quay Scenes
I enjoyed a walk along the Fraser River and the New West Quay. Gardens and walkways and water give off a soothing vibe.

Calm Alouette
The view down Alouette Lake to the arrows never gets old. The sloping mountains, the big sky all feel massive. The water so calm. Some time here is so calming.

Beneath the Cliff
Named Gold Creek, in line with the name of the park, but there are areas of the creek where the most emerald green is the colour that is remembered.

Releasing Fronds
I was with the @nwphotoclub for an outing to Alouette Lake. It took me quite a while to get to the lake as I became fixated with the ferns. Especially the Fiddlehead (Crozier) — the young, coiled, unfolding frond. Worried about these little guys. The forest is quite dry. It could be a difficult summer.

Caught Light
Evening was approaching as the glow from the sun set Lowe to the horizon. The warm sunset was caught by the span of the Oak Street Bridge.

Evening Warmth Arrives
Evening drives along River Road with the warmth from the setting sun bringing together the calm river waters and riverside urban towers.

New from Old
The remains of the massive forest cutting in the early 1900s remain. Large old stump stand as a reminder of what was there. Often the old stumps give life to new growth. New growth with an advantage of being a little higher to grab the sunlight that filters through the forest canopy. Forest walks are enjoyable.

Unique but Expensive
The photo walk with Andre @legerefineart_photowalks ended with the excellent timing to be at the Rodney Graham public artwork – the spinning Chandelier. It hangs under the Granville Bridge. It was unveiled in 2019. It spins three times a day. It is the public at component of the Vancouver House 60-story condo tower. Another cost factor into housing. The $1.2 million budget rose to $4.8 million. This is unique, it is definitely worth a look!
