Once again, Cairns delivered.
Every time I toe a start line, I’m blown away by the support and sense of community this sport brings. Just when I think it can’t get better - it does.
Whether you were there as a spectator, or there as an athlete; whether it was before the swim, out on the bike, during the run, or supporting from afar - your support landed. I heard it. I felt it.
I gave everything to chase down the overall AG win. Full credit to @sam.askeydoran and @patty_b_tridawgy for two incredible performances that took the top AG spots.
Like every Ironman, it wasn’t perfect. But I’m proud of the way I emptied the tank.
To everyone who believed in me - thank you. Once again, this community lifted me in the way I hope I lift others.
Thank you for believing in me, Cairns ⚡🍌

This time tomorrow I’ll be pushing myself through what is considered one of the most challenging races in the world
Now, I sit here trying to fit the last few years of my life into an instagram caption
My journey began as a means to convince myself that there’s always more to give, to prove to myself that if I truly want something, I am capable of achieving it. I now believe this to be true.
Tomorrow’s race is the next step for me, regardless of the outcome. But for everyone who has been apart of my journey at any stage, I hope that I’ve helped inspire you in some way, helped you realise that if you truly want it you can have it, regardless of what “it” is. It doesn’t matter how hard things are right now, I guarantee things could be worse. You have more to give.
For those who’d like to follow along, my race begins at 6:40am Saturday in Hawaii, 3:40am Sunday in Melbourne

Your support so far has been immeasurable. I’ve been flooded with messages all week.
Tomorrow will be hard, I’ll suffer and probably tell myself that “I can’t do this”. But as hard as it will be, part of what will get through it is hoping that I can inspire you. The next time you think “I can’t do this”, I’m here to remind you - “You can”
Thanks to the team who’s gotten me to this point so far
Let’s do this 👊

Ironman Cairns 2024 Recap #imcairns
Plan was straight forward. Swim smart, bike your balls off, run your own race, don’t blow up. Simple.
28 degrees, sunny, no cloud, no wind. Perfect racing conditions… Unless you’ve spent the last 6 weeks in Melbourne
A consistent but brutal 6 weeks of training came down to 9 hours - or hopefully, slightly less. Training wasn’t anything special, @joegambles and I just focused on getting the simple stuff right. Hour after hour after hour. For at least 25 hours a week - which, when juggling full time work, was not easy.
As tempting as it was to race hard from the start, water temperature forced a more conservative approach and let others dictate the pace. Safe to say Skipper’s ice blocks down the wetsuit didn’t last.
Leading into the race, I knew the bike was key. After working with @timbo_reed and Joe on my race day nutrition, the plan was in place to allow myself as much breathing room leading into the run as possible. We were out there for a good time, not a long time.
The plan on the run was to be flexible, with the focus being to keep the legs ticking and letting HR dictate the pace and not to need to do anything special. The plan mostly worked, up until the last 10km, where everything was screaming at me resort to the IM shuffle. But with sub 9 in sight that wasn’t going to happen.

Ironman 70.3 Western Sydney
🥇 30-34
5th overall AG
28th overall
We spend so much of our lives focusing on the climb ahead that we rarely stop to reflect on how far we’ve come.
This race gave me the opportunity to do that.
7 years ago, Western Sydney was my first triathlon, back when I didn’t really know what I was getting myself in to. Since then, the sport has shaped a huge part of my life. It’s carried me through milestones both in and out of racing, helped me grow as an athlete and a person, and introduced me to some incredible people along the way.
2026 gave me the chance to return to where it all began for the first time since 2019. Being able to spend the weekend surrounded by people who are now such a big part of my life made it even more special.

Gold Coast T100 | 3rd Overall 🥉
Proud of my efforts on this one.
Went in with the goal of racing aggressively and putting myself in the best position to cut the tape.
Although the result wasn’t quite there, I committed from the start - digging deep and sitting at the front for ~90% of the race.
However it came at a cost, finding myself in a run battle which ultimately got the better of me with 3-5km to go.
Plenty to take from this one, and a great confidence booster knowing I have what it takes to get to the front and stay there.
Thank you to all the messages before and after the race, and a special mention to everyone who got out there and supported. Pleased to say I did try to return the favour to those on course a little more this time.
A nice reminder how you race - and how you support those around you - matters more than where you finish.
Congrats to the boys up front on a great race - might have to return the favour and sit in a little more next time ⚡️🍌
