WOW! Just WOW! Keenan! Well done Kiddo! I am so very proud and happy for you! All of your hard work and training was rewarded last night with your fantastic Silver Medal 🥈performance at the UIAA World Cup! Plus your second Sliver Medal 🥈of the night for the World Championship! You’ve come a long way from that first ice climb 15 years ago at the Ouray Ice Parks Kids Wall! And a big shout out goes to the whole US Ice Climbing Team for their Team Bronze!!! 🥉🇺🇸!!!
Team USA is working hard in Malbum Lichtenstein today. These 8 young crushers are getting after it. I am psyched to be cheering on all of these kids: Keenan, Cody, Luke, Liam, Nate, Cat, Georgia and Hannah. They are an awesome group of youngsters.
Here’s a photo series of Keenan’s first qualifier route. Fist Bump from Uncle Bones for good luck. Starting out on the slushy ice, transitioning onto the mixed section and topping out!
The 2018 UIAA Youth Mixed Climbing World Cup is up and running! This series of 10 photos starts with last nights opening ceremony. A great opener for the kids with a hall of fire entrance and some special live pyrotechnics. The last few photos highlight our training days in Kaprun Austria leading up to the comp. We got plenty of heavy wet snow and found some great mixed lines. Keenan Onsighted two M8’s, two M7’s and fell going for the chains on a monster M9+. It is amazing to watch my boy CRUSHING!
So, for a very special occasion I will post a non-Ice Climbing shot. Don't get used to it. Here's my boy. The K-Man @keenanpanda on his first alpine route in the Park since braking his ankle in February. I am so psyched and so proud to be climbing with my favorite partner again. Sorry Bones. Keenan and I had a blast cranking out The Great Dihedral and The Finch route on the first buttress of Halletts yesterday. @camp_usa
Team USA placed 3rd in the overall behind Team Switzerland and steam Russia. Congratulations kids you all did an amazing job! Thanks goes to coach Marcus for your motivation dedication and training.
Crushed it! Keenan finished the U16 finals route. He came in 6th place. We couldn't be more proud of him and I'm not sure he could be any happier with his performance.
So close to finishing the mixed portion of the finals route! Now everyone who know me, knows how loud I can be. But despite my hollering Keenan claims he didn't hear us routing him on. That just proves the deep level of focus you can find when you drop that last gear and are really going for it.
