Lately, it feels like every headline about New Orleans is asking whether this city has a future.
We disagree.
Join The Water Collaborative and @glasshalffull.co for “We’re Not Leaving,” a Dance & Dissent Party bringing together community, conversation, music, and collective joy in the face of climate anxiety, political uncertainty, and the nonstop doomscroll cycle.

We are excited to announce that @ilsupremopizza has officially joined the Glass Half Full mission to reduce waste across, not only New Orleans, but the Gulf south!
Yall already know their pizza is good but now you can dine there knowing your empty bottles will end up in a better place.
Cheers!
It’s no surprise that Cure crafts incredible cocktails but what you might not know is they’re just as intentional behind the scenes, reducing food waste and recycling every empty bottle with us.
So far, we’ve helped them divert the weight of a full-grown male elephant in glass from landfills. Yeah… it’s that much.
Consider this your sign: go grab their daily punch. 🍹
Our co-founder & CEO, Franziska, spoke on the main stage at GulfCon this week! She shares how Glass Half Full’s vision has shifted over the years to include Gulf Coast and even national expansion. Thank you @gulfofamericaalliance for organizing the conference and panel!
Looking for a fun way to learn a bit about New Orleans history?
Tucked away in the lobby of this historic hotel is a bar that has partnered with us for just 6 months and has already hit some impressive milestones.
Over 21 THOUSAND glass bottles recycled & there’s no stopping now!
So if you’re looking to try Nola’s official cocktail, The Sazerac, look no further than The Roosevelt Hotel’s Sazerac Bar.
Your recycled glass becomes rain gardens, flood-relief sandbags, and hands-on science lessons.
This Give NOLA Day, Glassroots is working toward a $15,000 goal to support our programming.

During March, we partnered up with FQMD and Keep Louisiana Beautiful to sponsor an initiative with local bars in the French Quarter to “Raise The Bar” on sustainability!
The results came in, and WOW 🤩 nearly 6,000 pounds of glass were diverted from landfills.
We couldn’t have done this without the community support so thank yall 🩵
Have you guys ever seen 32,000 golf balls at once? No? Neither have we, but we did recycle the weight equivalent in glass this weekend!
We had the best time out at the Zurich Classic, recycling everyone’s good times!
These events add up over the year, and we love seeing just how big an impact each can make.
Thank you @zurichclassic ! We can’t wait for next year.
What if waste wasn’t the end… but the beginning of restoration?
As coastal ecosystems continue to disappear—and with them, their ability to protect us—new ways of thinking are emerging. Like the one from Franziska Trautmann, who saw in something as ordinary as glass an opportunity to restore what we’re losing.
Through Glass Half Full, discarded bottles are transformed into sand used to rebuild wetlands, protect coastlines, and strengthen communities against disasters.
This isn’t just recycling—it’s redefining waste, design, and impact.
Because sometimes innovation isn’t about creating something new—
but about seeing what already exists… differently.
Waste is not the end of a story.
It’s a design failure waiting to be reimagined. 🌍
A good margarita AND sustainability? Sign us up!
Known for its amazing drinks & burrito battles on Wednesdays, Val’s is no secret to those who frequent Freret Street.
With over 19,000 glass bottles recycled, we estimate that Uptown has enjoyed about 249,000 margaritas and counting.
We will raise a glass to that!

From the backyards of fraternity houses to a more advanced facility in St. Bernard Parish, Max Steitz (@maxshteitz - @tulaneliberalarts ’20) and Franziska Trautmann (@glassgrrrl - @ssetulane ’20) are answering the call to fight coastal erosion. Through their initiative, @glasshalffull.co , the Tulane duo is delivering recycling solutions to New Orleans and restoring the Gulf Coast by converting recycled glass into sand.
