Coming soon to Glen Dye, Caroline and my studio will be open for guests (and non guests by appointment). It will offer an opportunity for visitors to explore some of our work in a relaxed and fun way, and maybe decide if there’s something they’d like to buy. We’re calling it Gladstone’s Luxury Dry Goods. An Open Studio of Clothing, Homewares & Dreams. ❤️ It will be open by the end of the month. 🔥
This week we celebrated the opening of our new studio at Glen Dye. It’s called Gladstone’s Luxury Dry Goods: An Open Studio of Clothing, Homewares and Dreams and it’s a collaboration with @gladstone_hellen and some of our other ventures. 🔥 This is a space for our guests to explore some of our projects; to read books, rummage around, listen to cassettes….buy things. ❤️ And it’s almost certainly unlike anything else anywhere. 🍷 Next to Gladstone’s we also unveiled a brand new sculpture called A Cauldron of Raptors at Glen Dye. 🍾 There were bagpipes, dinner by the astonishing @cafecuil and lots more. 🥂 Come and visit soon so we can share the joy. Here are some photos of last week’s Gladstone / Hellen and Glen Dye event. ❤️ We’ve become really good at throwing parties; they feel super laid back and relaxed to our guests, and we achieve that through military precision behind the scenes. 🥂 Bring us your wedding, party or group event and we’ll deliver amazing food, music, craft, booze, weather, beauty and fun. 🎸All together now….’take me out tonight, where there’s music and there’s people and they’re young and alive’. 💐 FAB photos by FAB @kirstymclachlan
Brand new! Gladstone’s Luxury Dry Goods. An open studio of homewares, clothing and dreams at Glen Dye. 🔥 This is somewhere for you to explore Caroline and my work, from our time with Pedlars, Warners, Laura Ashley and on. ❤️There are museum-worthy exhibits, books, family antiques and more. And you can try and buy stuff from various of our enterprises. It is unlike anything else anywhere and we are super proud of it. 🍾
MY NEW BOOK! Real Wild Heaven: 22,000 Years of Glen Dye ⛰️📚🌲 Available to pre-order now.
That sounds very grand, because I am not really a writer but somehow this is my third proper, grown-up book. I am proud of all three, but the publication of this new one feels particularly exciting.
You can pre-order it from today and I would love it if you would. Pre-orders are hugely helpful.
📆 It will be published on 29th May.
It is part historical fiction, part opinion piece, personal memoir, geography lesson, and musing on the fleeting nature of our time on this beautiful planet. It is at once gently educational, occasionally quite funny, deeply opinionated and possibly rather original.
I have written it to appeal to everyone, and I hope that it will resonate with readers whether they have visited Glen Dye or not.
I was extremely lucky to be able to call on the best editors, copy editor and designer imaginable to help realise my vision, and now it is done.
There are two editions; a hardback with eight pages of photos (colour and black and white), 22 illustrations and a map, and a paperback without the photos.
We have decided to publish Real Wild Heaven ourselves. I’ve been very lucky to work with @randomhouse and The @dobookco on my last books, but this time we’re going it alone. This gives me complete creative control -I had a specific vision for the quality and feel- and it allows me to get it out into the world straight away. I am nothing if not impatient.
So, there you have it. Thank you for reading this note.
You can pre-order the book now (via our online shop). I’d be so happy if you would.
