Friends! My film #Mermaid won #BestHorror at Oscar/BAFTA qualifying LA Shorts International film Festival! I can’t believe it! This was my second short as a writer/director/actor but my first time composing the score & I just feel so seen. This #filmfestival was such a lovely experience for me. The films were top notch and I got to meet a bunch of new talented filmmaker friends who were all so special and kind. It was an affirming reminder that there are such lovely artists out that there I haven’t even met yet, whose work is inspiring and needs to be seen and supported and celebrated! I was in awe of their films. I’m so grateful to @lashortsfest for including me, and I just feel so honored to be part of a film festival that takes such special care of their programming. I’m still strategizing the best way to release my film so stay tuned. For now, I’m just so grateful that I was able to make it to this festival. BRAVO TEAM! For at least the first 7 years of my career, If there was a show about a family I knew I wouldn’t be able to audition for it. The family wouldn’t look like me, so it wasn’t an option. I couldn’t be the mom, or the daughter or the sister. Similarly I couldn’t audition for shows that took place before the 1970’s because a mixed race character would have looked historically out of place. I feel so honored to lead @trueliescbs with @stevehowey with a family that looks like the diverse home I grew up in, and I’m so excited for you to watch our loving and silly family on TV. Big hugs. Took some pics of my baby Mils today and couldn’t pick the best one because he is perfect. He’s so sweet and kind and empathetic and friendly. Today he played with his human children friends, and also some kids at the park. He loves to sing and he is also a clown and a cuddler. (His sister Lumi is also perfect but she was napping and charges me for pics because she got famous on instagram during her time as a pandemic puppy)
