Whether or not you were a Bible Kid™️, you can appreciate this good story… in the Book of Ruth, Naomi is about to make a journey back to her homeland (she has lost her 2 sons and husband at this point). She intends to go alone. But then her daughter-in-law, Ruth, says (famously), “where you go, I’ll go. Where you stay, I’ll stay. Your people will be my people, and your god my god.” It is a proclamation of chosen family. It is a pledge of allegiance to one another. Over anything else.
This song - “Where You Go” - was written by 5 songwriters in January 2026. We live in Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota, Colorado, and California. We are inspired by the people of Minneapolis (and many many other communities in our country), who are choosing one another over anything else.
They can’t mess with one of us without messing with all of us. Where you go, I’ll go. Where you stay, I’ll stay. I will walk you home ‘til we all are safe.

@ginachavez joins @kevinbblackistone and @robgreene86 to discuss how growing up in the eclectic musical hub of Austin, Texas, shaped her genre-bending sound and her perspective on the "New South." Chavez reflects on her journey as a Latin American who connected deeply with her roots through music and instrumentation. She also shares her experiences reconciling her queer identity with her Catholic upbringing, arguing that true belonging comes from embracing all parts of oneself.
Gina is a Latin Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter whose music intentionally blends English and Spanish with influences ranging from folk to Nueva Trova. She co-founded the Niñas Arriba College Fund, an organization that provides full college scholarships, housing, and paid internships to young women in El Salvador.
