After years of conversation, hesitation, circling, and quiet knowing, we finally decided to create something together.
We didn’t arrive here quickly. The idea took time, and we gave it space before saying yes.
We are partners in life, and for a long time, we were intentional about keeping our work separate. We wanted to protect our relationship, our individuality, and the spaces where each of us feels most grounded. Eventually, we realized that the place where we each felt most grounded was something we had quietly built together.
Home is part of this story.
Gilbert was born and raised in Costa Rica.
Tenie chose to make Costa Rica home.
This is our home.
And we’re choosing to share our version of it.
The ocean and the page have both been places where we slow down, listen, and come back to ourselves. Not as roles or identities, but as practices that ask us to be present, patient, and honest.
Salt & Story came from that place.
