Fifteen years ago, Nick Williamson joined Gibbs' U.S. Custom House project as a college intern. Today, he's one of our most respected Senior Project Managers — and one of the best mentors on our team.
Over his career at Gibbs, Nick has led landmark projects, like redevelopment of a full city block on Magazine Street and the award-winning restoration of Entergy's Claiborne Substation, all while investing in the next generation of builders around him. Today he's leading our Bonella A. St. Ville School project in Harvey, bringing to life the incredible vision of our partners Jefferson Parish Schools, Lachin Darre' Architects, and Volkert.

The Maumus Center, our first stop in St. Bernard Parish on the Gibbs #50for50 tour, is where history, innovation, and education meet.
Built for the St. Bernard Parish School Board, this one-of-a-kind campus combines the restoration of the 1920s Arabi Elementary School with new construction to create a hands-on art and science learning center for local students.
From a restored Art Deco theater to a glass-canopied atrium, planetarium, and agricultural learning garden with a working sundial, every element was designed to inspire discovery.
This project required detailed craftsmanship—from restoring hand-painted ceilings to fabricating precision terrazzo installations that function as educational tools.

The U.S. Custom House is a National Historic Landmark in the heart of the Canal Street corridor and our next stop on the #Gibbs50 tour.
Gibbs Construction led a $24M restoration and modernization of this 300,000+ SF structure, carefully preserving its historic fabric while upgrading all building systems to meet modern standards and LEED Silver certification.
The work was completed while the building remained occupied—requiring precision coordination to protect both tenants and irreplaceable historic elements.

Continuing our journey through Gibbs’ impact on downtown New Orleans, we turn to one of the tallest structures built by Gibbs, 930 Poydras. One of the most recognizable additions to the skyline, 930 Poydras transformed a key corner of the Central Business District into a vibrant residential and retail hub.
Delivered as a CMAR project, Gibbs worked alongside the owner and design team @eskewdumezripple through a multi-year development and budgeting effort before launching a fast-paced preconstruction phase—optimizing budget, schedule, and constructability for this 21-story mixed-use development.
With 250 residential units, structured parking, retail space, and a signature skybox overlooking Poydras Street, this $54M project was built in phases while portions were already occupied—right in the heart of a bustling downtown corridor.

Next up in our 50-project tour through Gibbs history is 625 St. Charles. Rising above Lafayette Square, 625 St. Charles Condominiums brought a new level of luxury living to downtown New Orleans.
Gibbs Construction partnered with the owner from the earliest design phase to deliver this high-rise featuring post-tensioned concrete floors, custom millwork, and a striking masonry and curtain wall façade.
From penthouse balconies overlooking the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line to upscale amenities like a lap pool, sauna, and retail space below, every detail was built with precision and craftsmanship.
