Rams. The greatest guy. The person you’d do anything to get on your shoot. In the most dangerous, devastating or scary moments, he knew how to break the tension with a perfectly timed one liner or better, a ‘how you doin’.’ I got lucky when we both moved to the same part of the country, got to hang out more outside of work and raise our kids side-by-side. Ramsay was the greatest dad. When Ramsay was diagnosed,, it was a gut punch for him, and for everyone who knew him. But he decided that he would check everything off his bucket list. That guy lived. And in doing so, he showed us how to live. For so many years, it was the work we all did together that gave us perspective on life. And then it became Ramsay facing terminal cancer that gave us perspective. In the last several years, I was so focused on taking advantage of every chance we had to goof off together, and to support you through your cancer journey, that I didn’t anticipate the gap your death would leave in my life. Mostly the cold calls to talk about everything or nothing, shooting the shit in no direction, sucking up time I didn’t have and somehow it didn’t matter. Thank you for all that you gave us. 1. One of the many train rides. 2. Cracking a bottle of wine at the hotel breakfast buffet at 6:07am in the Philippines after working an all nighter covering the war on drugs. 3. Always goofing off. 4. When you brought a selfie stick to Gaza. 5. You never said no. 6. Teaching our little gal how microphones work with all the patience and all the humor. 7. Always laughing. 8. Usually needed a zoom for full effect. 9. Somalia. 10. Hangin’ in the backyard. 11. Great one. 12. Passing out after a long shoot. 13. One of the many band pics, Connersville. 14. One of the many plane rides. 15. Keeping us laughing. 16. Toasting at the end of the night, the best conversations. 17. Houston tacos, meals on the road. 18. Giants game w the kiddos. 19. Your last birthday. 20. The best goodbye. Love you forever, Rammer. Rest in peace.
