NPP PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN COMMENDS POLICE FOR PEACEFUL PRIMARIES
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), today received the Chairman and members of the New Patriotic Party Presidential Election Committee at the Police Headquarters; where the Chairman, Mr. Joseph Osei Owusu, formally expressed appreciation to the Ghana Police Service for its central role in ensuring a peaceful presidential primary election.
Mr. Osei Owusu commended the Police for the comprehensive security arrangements and the professionalism displayed by officers nationwide before, during, and after the primaries. He noted that the visible police presence, effective coordination, and neutral posture of personnel contributed greatly to maintaining calm and public confidence throughout the electoral process.
The IGP thanked the Chairman and his delegation for the visit and the recognition. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property and supporting democratic processes through dedicated, disciplined, and professional policing.

NATIONAL ELECTION SECURITY TASKFORCE MEETS NPP AHEAD OF PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES
The National Election Security Taskforce has held a meeting with the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Election Committee ahead of the party’s presidential elections scheduled for 31st January 2026.
The engagement was aimed at receiving official notification of the election and obtaining key details, including the timetable, locations and scope of activities, to enable adequate security planning.
Speaking at the meeting, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, noted that the taskforce considers such engagements essential to ensuring effective coordination and preparedness for internal party elections.
He assured the Committee that the Ghana Police Service together with sister security agencies would work with the Electoral Commission and the NPP to put in place appropriate measures to guarantee a peaceful, orderly and credible electoral process.
The IGP further reiterated the commitment of the National Election Security Taskforce to work closely with all stakeholders to maintain law, order and public safety before, during and after the elections.
